But it was part of the agreement. Why did he not pay the fee out of the PPI claim?0

If he admits the claim and makes the offer of £20 a month (which, based on what we have been told would be what he would have to do) then a CCJ will still be issued. If the claimants accept the offer then it would be entered automatically without ever being seen by a judge.

Fair enough, I suspect anyway it is al bluster from the PPI company and if they are getting a steady £20pm they are likely just to leave it and let him do it, for the level of debt its hardly worth their effort.
A better option would be for the OP to lend him the £240 to pay the debt off and then he can be paid back at £20pm instead, no idea how feasible that is.0 -

If you do lend him that money see it as a gift as the reality of the situation is that he doesn't have any money and you'll be bottom of the list to be repaid.0

If he pays it in 30 days it will be removed from the register and no credit will be trashed0 -

My post was entirely correct.

I genuinely do not know if the Registry trust means what it literally says that a default is always registered and then removed if settled in 30 days or do they mean it does not go on until 30 days is past.
A default cannot be removed from a register by definition if it was not registered in the first place.
