I have had a very opposing recent Experience with Amex, opened and had 15k limit in Jan. Less than 5 months after opening drastically reduced to £1500. Have numerous other cards but only have balance of £8k on 50k combined limits. Wasn’t happy, phoned to complain as this was BA prem card which I specifically opened for the rewards, Avios and comp voucher by making one or two large purchases a year and petrol to get to rewards threshold. Now had to completely rejig how I spend on that card to hit reward. Obvs given pandemic I got The general we review accounts regularly and of course I looked at my 3 files all looks as it should but just bad timing. Will continue to use it in the hopes in a year or so they pop the limit back up but just slightly annoying!

The maximum limit would depend on an individuals financial circumstances.

Ah but in this case a stupid question got perfectly sensible answers.

It wasn't a stupid question - just too open ended.

Agree 100% that the reply was perfectly sensible and reasonable, and didn't deserve the smartass response.

AMEX limit is dependent on the financial status of the person. AMEX also increased their tap pay limit in May 2020.
