Do they also tarmac driveways with material left over from a job ?
Shall have to wait and see what happens Monday. But I'm going to ring the council Monday anyway to voice my concerns about these window vents!

Have you seen a detailed quote?0

Just read on a gas boilers forum, www.navitron.org.uk , that most installers of gas/lpg etc fit a ground level vent in case of leaks, as they are responsible if there is a build up of gases that could lead to an explosion.
I've also read that the regs only apply to a non sealed appliance???0 -

Installers don't just have all this kit lying around on a Friday to start fitting on a Monday, so your installer sounds like a total cowboy. Competent RGI's are stacked out with work, especially at this time of year.
What about the tank? Surely that needs to go in first, before anything else is installed? So that will need a concrete base laying first, pipework etc...No free lunch, and no free laptop1 -

* No, it's based on one side of my landing, with bedrooms surrounding it.

*I agree.

I also had to keep asking questions about what type of boiler, etc, as he was not very forthcoming about explaining too much of it! I also thought I heard his colleague, on the phone, say that he'd have to get something from Derby, as they didn't stock it.
Bearing in mind that they're based in stoke on trent....I thought Derby would be the most obvious choice to get quotes from, but that's the councils choice, not mine.
I also think he said a price over £3000, on the phone, but cant be totally sure!0 -
Is one quote enough for the grant ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

I strongly suggest that you get another quote.
And ask the guy how and where he is intending to run the flue, as it would have to go via one of the bedrooms, or into the loft. It's not a logical place to put a boiler in most houses. No free lunch, and no free laptop1 -
It is if the airing cupboard is on an outside wallNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
