And ask the guy how and where he is intending to run the flue, as it would have to go via one of the bedrooms, or into the loft. It's not a logical place to put a boiler in most houses.0 -
You shouldn't be presuming anything, you need to find out.
It might go via the loft, but it needs to vent externally, which means a hole in your roof or gable end wall. We have no idea, as we don't know the layout, or how/where they intend to run the LPG supply in to the first floor.
If the installer is unwilling or unable to answer these basic questions for you, then you should be looking elsewhere.
Another key question to ask is what warranty comes with the boiler: a new combi these days should be at least 5 years. No free lunch, and no free laptop1 -
UPDATE:
So, they did start on the Monday, (last week), and finished on the Friday. The whole central heating system is in place and working brilliantly! Words do not express how happy I am now I've got a house full of warmth, and better water pressure from my hot tap! 😁 I keep checking the LPG valve, I'm hardly using any LPG at all, and that's 2 rads at 20 degrees, 3 at 16 degrees, for the majority of the time. They installed a Vailant eco tec pro 28 boiler, which is quieter than my old immersion heater was! Lol!
They also topped up my loft insulation, which has obviously made a big difference!
I managed to change my electric tariff down to 13ppkwh, for day & night, without having to change my 2nd gen smart meter. Also reduced the standing charge to 19ppd.
The council chap came out and spoke to me about getting the mains gas connected, sometime in the near future, and I told him that I'd got 10 other people who are interested so far, so I'll be going down that route next!
Also, I got them to install my own Nest thermostat and sent for the Energenie smart TRVs. I can save even more money then, by remotely controlling each room individually.
All in all, I'm a very (warm)'happy bunny! Lol!
Thanks to everyone for your help and advice..... much appreciated!

My apologies for being rather dubious. A good result.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -

Good result. How did they run the flue, out of interest?

My circumstances......I have several long term health conditions. Do not work, so home all day.
Atm I have 2 old storage heaters on E7, as all the others have stopped working. I'm all electric, with the nearest gas mains 54mtrs away. I live in a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 2 living rooms, kitchen, hall and conservatory, semi detached house. I have an electric fire in the front room, portable electric radiator in the conservatory, 1 large storage heater in the hallway, and a medium sized one in the dining room.
I contacted my local council, who said that I qualified for a home heating grant, but they got a quote back from Cagent gas for over £7000 to connect me. The grant wont cover that, and I have no savings, so they suggested looking at LPG, as they said they dont fund storage heaters!. I'm waiting for someone to come out to assess my house, to see if this is viable, but I dont think the property is big enough to house a bulk tank. If it turns out that I could only have the smaller cylinders (47kg), I think it will cost too much to run, is this right?
I'm paying about £2.50 per day, for all my electric atm. I would expect this to be higher if I had all 5 storage heaters on etc!
Are there any others forms of heating my house that would be cheap to run?
My house was built around 1975, so I have cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, solid concrete floors, and all double glazed!
All constructive advice appreciated!
Thanks!
