Elkafunds said:So this was my first time ever buying a car usually my ex dealt with the cars. I saw the car I wanted and went to AC to see it I got the car within my budget now this is when I made the mistake! Ask for a test drive but was told I couldn't as it hasnt been through the workshop and if I was to test drive it and there was an issue they would day it could have been me. So he will let me know when I can test drive. We went over the monthly payments the trade in details ect and how much I would be paying a month I was then asked to sign here (thinking I was signing authorisation for the finance my own fault I know !) Wasnt till I got home and looked in my emails that I had indeed signed a service orders form. My question is what if I find issues when I test drive it or what if I'm not comfortable driving it. Can I walk away I've not paid a deposit or signed the finance agreement. I also stupidly took auto care £499 for 2 yrs can this be cancelled? Tia
I've been there too, paid a deposit to hold the car and the test drive turned into picking up my car. I declined the car as it had some issues and after some arguing with the manager got my deposit back.So it's up to you if you want the car (it's probably a good deal for an A1, but if you're a new driver I'd look at something a bit less premium like a Golf which I think is essentially the same car), test it and decide if you're buying it or not. If not, then tell them and don't take no for an answer; you still hold all the cards. Or you can go in and cancel it now.In either case they'll tell you that the car will have lost some value because they've already registered and taxed it, how they'll be out a bit and moaning, but they'll eventually say something like "I don't want you buying a car you're not happy with" to which you can reply "I'm not happy with it, lets stop wasting each others time".
Car salesmen are pretty good at the hard sell, so you might want to bring someone more experienced in arguing with salesmen with you!1 -

If your one of "them" who bought a new Dacia Sandero then I would agree its a lot of money for a 1000cc car. But its not a Dacia.2 -

If your one of "them" who bought a new Dacia Sandero then I would agree its a lot of money for a 1000cc car. But its not a Dacia. Its a bog standard 1.0 Car. It doesnt have a great deal for it unless you are a sucker for brands. The engine isnt even that special. You get a grand total of 95bhp and 118 pound/feet torque. All of the small Fords and Vauxhalls at this price point give better performance figures. Hell even the Nissan Micra can muster more oomph than the A1. Then we get to the interior which looks decidedly budget. Okay its got a flat screen display but so do most compact cars these days. In my opinion the Ford and Nissan interiors look nicer places to be.I am not saying Audi dont make premium cars, they do, but this isnt one of them. I have not bought a Dacia Sandero. But I would rather be seen in one than the A1 which is a triumph of marketing over substance, and the thought of being seen driving one isnt something that appeals. And thats coming from somebody who pootles about in a 16 year old Passat.0
