As I predicted, one minute in and the F word has been used.
Oh, and now a sad looking chap has payed because he received a debt crawler letter, but the presenters called it a bailiff letter.

This thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6201283/parking-charge-for-parking-on-land-not-owned-by-the-company#latest is the main story , so not about them taking pictures of people leaving the site ! The site was Milnrow shopping centre , near Rochdale Lancashire
Steve Clark was on zoom or similar and repeated what coupon mad and minty and others told us3 -
IMO most of the people who were ripped off brought it upon themselves. Too trusting, too lazy, too stupid. or too proud. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

At least the councillor appears to be trying to do something about the scam on his turf, and he called them charges not fines.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Following plan A would have exposed this issue , as is usual for any case
Once it was found to be a different landowner the dam burst and the truth came out , then the recriminations and complaints followed , with cancellations and refunds and the BPA involved
It's clear that parking eye did not check the boundaries of the land they were contracted to monitor , but took it on faith only , so these victims could sue them for obtaining and misuse of personal data under false pretences6 -
A mix of confusion showing NtKs and council penalty charge tickets, council PDTs and Civil Enforcement Officers. If only they knew that once debt collectors are involved in PE (or CPP in this instance) cases, then PE's confidence in pursuing is extremely low. They need to read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, fourth post!Given that access to that 'free' area seems to be via the retail park entrance (and the ANPR cameras), no amount of camera recalibration will be able to sift the 'free' area users from those using the retail car park. I expect this might rumble on. No doubt a revisit from the wrinklies.I don't share Steve Clark's optimism about a CoP resolution by Christmas and an introduction early in the new year! Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Odd, yesterday they said "PPC taking pictures of people" ........ just watched the end of yesterday's programme and now they say "persnickety parking companies" and it was Gloria who said it.
This was not a dream as two of my friends saw the same.
So, I am changing the title and comment4 -
It's clear that parking eye did not check the boundaries of the land they were contracted to monitorIt's clear that there was no due diligence applied. I doubt it ever is. They want a contract signing, then start immediate trawling. There was a report from a former PE employee a couple of years ago which highlighted similar tactics in the context of ANPR pole planning permission and signage advertising consent - stick them up, then apply for retrospection in the event of anyone complaining. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Supermarkets would be much better served by employing a pensioner to check the cars. They could then announce the reg number over the system and tell them to sort it within say 5mins. There would then be a walk of shame. Ticket if car not moved or badge/ticket displayed within given time and proceeds of charge to the food bank.
A pensioner would have some employment.
Less likely to park in a disabled spot (when not disabled) if called out.
Money to local cause.
