Should I book a package holiday for November?

We had 4 weeks notice of cancellation of our october holiday. Staysure certainly isn't limited to Europe.GarciaLorca said:minimad1970 said:
We were originally due to go to Mexico in october, BA cancelled so we moved the date to 17/11, there was no fee so we didn't lose anything. I'm probably 50/50 on if the holiday will happen. If it gets cancelled again I'll probably rebook for march. I have travel insurance with Staysure. BA flights to Mexico restart on 2/11, flying 3 times a week. I'll be keeping an eye on it to see if the flights do happen.GarciaLorca said:
Oh wow! You've booked too then for Mexico? How confident are you feeling about it? I will book BA because of the flexibility but I understand they are only due to start flying to Cancun in early November. If they cancelled Mexico would you just re-book somewhere else immediately for the same time frame? May I ask what travel insurance you got? I could only find one provider that covered countries in which FCO advises against travel.minimad1970 said:I hope the BA flights to Cancun in november go ahead, we're due to fly on the 17/11. BA have been really helpful with rescheduling our package holiday with them. They phoned me today to confrim our flight change, moved by 1 day, and the man said that the numbers booked on the flights were looking pretty good, especially now they're only flying 3 times a week.
That's interesting to know thank you. Hmmm I'm just weighing up whether to book or not now. If it is that uncertain... when BA cancelled our flights to Canada in July they gave about 10 days' notice. I assume they would give similar notice if I booked Mexico in which case I would hopefully have time to re-book to somewhere else.minimad1970 said:

Does Staysure cover non-essential travel outside of Europe? I thought about Staysure but I was pretty sure it was limited to Europe. Maybe I am wrong.0 -
Fascinating country. Was there in Sept 19. (Daily ferry services from Italy makes it highly accessible). Though spent most of the time away from the beach in the interior and travelling into North Macedonia.CKhalvashi said:Thrugelmir said:
Planes fly all the time. Not just for holiday traffic either. Generating revenue to cover costs is essential. Some airlines aren't going to survive the period that lies ahead either.GarciaLorca said:Just trying to figure out why BA would start flying to these holiday destinations if other people weren't thinking of doing the same thing or is this crazy?
I was in Albania in August to meet clients. The flights (not direct from the UK) were packed, and especially in the South (because I had no intention to stay away from the beach while there) there were a lot of UK-registered cars, indicating that travel has largely continued.1 -
Oh perhaps you are referring to a policy you took out pre-pandemic? Their current Covid cover / travel against FCO advice cover is only available for Europe.minimad1970 said:

You might want to check the terms of your policy then - that insurer only covers travel against an FCO travel advisory if you buy their European add on for European travel only...minimad1970 said:

I've just checked on Manage my booking and our flights to Cancun have now been cancelled. There's still flights showing 6/11(ours was 18/11) but I expect they'll be cancelled soon. The joy of another phonecall to BA tomorrow :'(0

Or wait a few days and let them to contact you.minimad1970 said:I've just checked on Manage my booking and our flights to Cancun have now been cancelled. There's still flights showing 6/11(ours was 18/11) but I expect they'll be cancelled soon. The joy of another phonecall to BA tomorrow :'(1 -
They weren't very quick to do this last time, I found out our holiday was cancelled when I looked on Manage my booking. If I want to rebook I need to get it sorted out quickly as the WT+ cabin is pretty small and the prices for a few of the flights are really reasonable for some days and extortionate for others.Thrugelmir said:

This is so strange. My flight on 20th November is still going ahead but they cancelled the return flight on 27th and moved me onto one on the 28th. It looks like they are reducing the weekly flights from three to two. Aren’t you sure they aren’t moving you onto the alternatives flights?minimad1970 said:I've just checked on Manage my booking and our flights to Cancun have now been cancelled. The first email was to inform me that my return flight had been changed by one day which I was fine with. I then checked on Manage my booking and found the outbound flight had been cancelled, I don't know what use they thought just having a return flight was. I looked again later and the whole package had been cancelled. I phoned this morning to sort it out and have rebooked for may. The person I spoke to was pretty upfront and said if it was him he wouldn't book for this year and he thinks most if not all the november flights to Cancun will be cancelled. You can still buy flights for some fridays in november, including the 6th, some of the prices for WT+ have doubled and I'm not willing to pay that much more.GarciaLorca said:
