  • A bit late, but I used foam rod gap filler (it has various names, but https://www.amazon.co.uk/Everbuild-Sealant-Joint-Backer-Metre/dp/B006PFYMLM
Is an example. You can get it unbranded and a lot cheaper on eBay)

It is lengths of foam similar to, but less dense than, plumbers pipe insulation. It comes  in grey or white, and in a variety of thicknesses, 5mm - 30mm diameter. You just push it into gaps, and it expands. Much easier to use than the Weather shield draft excluder (as it is round, and non-sticky) and MUCH cheaper. Also, it can seal larger gaps.

It made a huge difference to e.g the lounge - no more could feet and hot head!

I know this is an old post but trying to fill up other gaps now due to further draft proofing and trying to block any access for spiders as have seen more than usual recently.

I might get this foam filler for remaining areas however can't see 5mm anywhere. Can it be cut in half?

I was wondering if it is recommended to caulk or silicone over it once put in?
