Ryanair Stanstead Airport parking booking no refund

I booked flights, parking and insurance in one transaction with Ryanair who have now cancelled the flight. They are refunding this but won’t refund the parking as they say it’s not their responsibility and have told me to contact Stanstead Airport Parking. I have done this and Stanstead say it’s not their responsibility and have told me to go back to Ryanair.  I am caught in a rock and a hard place. No one will accept responsibility for the refund. How can this possibly be allowed?

Given that Ryanair cut costs wherever possible it is highly likely that the car parking will have been booked at the cheapest rate possible, in other words - non refundable. Check your documents to see if you can ascertain the terms and conditions of the reservation.

With regards to responsibility, your contract is with Ryanair.
  • Hi there, I am also having the same issue. Ryanair sold me the airport parking with set dates to match my flight, then changed flights effectively making my aiport parking void, and refused to either update the parking dates or refund me my money.
I am looking to escalate this to the Trading standards institute and wondering if anyone has done this before/already? Or if anyone would like to join in, so we can include several cases. AT

If they've changed the flight dates then it's hardly unreasonable to ask them to adjust the parking booking accordingly, but there are three questions that you'd need to consider prior to escalating anywhere:
    1. Is their position consistent with the Ts & Cs you signed up to, either/both those of Ryanair and/or the parking provider?
    2. If so, do those Ts & Cs attempt to override any of your statutory rights?
    3. Or can they be challenged as unfair contract terms under the relevant part 2 provisions of the Consumer Rights Act?

Via the Ryanair site several car parking options seem to be offered at STN.

Check which car park you booked and find the terms of that parking site.  As an example if booked with the airports own parking site (MAG) the contact details are below.

MAG customer services at STN can be contacted on 0808-169-7031, between 09:00-18:00 daily. Whilst bookings made via RyanAir are shown as non-refundable unless a cancellation protection insurance was purchased you may be able to adjust the in/out times. If no cancellation protection insurance plan was taken an admin fee of £7.50 may be charged.

Approach the issue with a smile.
