Mrs loves the big picture but hates the speakers so been looking into either a soundbar or building a floating wall and put in wall speakers into it.0 -
Does the system have an optical connection?

Some components do, some don't.
I have 4 sources - Sky, DVD, AppleTV & games console - and the 2 displays - TV & projector - at the moment the AVR acts as a switch and deals with the sound. The TV has enough HDMI inputs for everything but the projector only has 2 and so even ignoring the soundbar there needs to be a switch beforehand and really a matrix so it can cover both which source to use and with display.
I could live with switching the HDMI over between TV and Projector but would need a soundbar with more HDMI inputs and/or HDMI switch/matrix0 -
Your solution is to probably ditch the supplied stand and go pedestal on the table or floor standing cantilever
This is what I am looking at to improve our setup to get the TV off the our bench without going to a wall mount.
(They have a few different models from £48)
The base tucks under the bench and Hight adjustable to give the clearance
They also do table top versions from £30 other brands cheaper)

To avoid repeating previous suggestions and why it cannot be wall mounted.

Still think a £15+ universal pedestal stand may be your best option and it will be hidden behind the soundbar you choose.0 -
Jeez, some peoples memories are ridiculous. I'd forgotten i'd even asked here. There always seems to be something cropping up to stop me spending on extras like this - living room needs gutting, new fire install, new fridge needed, car goes kaput. I've been toying with a soundbar for some time now, obviously. As for ditching the existing stand. That wont be happening. I know that a cheapy stand as you show would instantly fix the issue but i shelled out £300-£400 (can't remember now but maybe i've mentioned it in a thread somewhere that you'll be able to point me to?) on the TV cabinet stand that's currently in place as it ties in with all the other solid oak furniture i bought at the time. I'm not going to be getting rid of that so soon i'm afraid so i'll be looking at alternative measures.0

You are looking at the wrong stands.....You need a table top one that just sits on your nice Oak cabinet....

See Amazon.co.uk : tv pedestalDo you have any personal experience of them? Not challenging you, just asking.Mine is a 58" TV. Not the biggest in the world but big enough. The suspended timber floor doesn't work well with the current setup. By that i mean take New Years for example. Next door had however many people round and come 12am they were all jumping up and down and you could see our TV wobbling/vibrating. It didn't tip but i was ready for jumping off the sofa and grabbing it.When the wifes sister came round and brought her son, he was only used to a solid floor so when he realised that running along the living room gave out a thud-thud-thud he kept doing it .... TV was wobbling again. Again it didn't tip but it made me uneasy. So to get to my point - i'm just wondering how sturdy these stands are. They must be sturdy enough but i can't help but be concerned about them. And can you control how high up/down the stand the TV sits? Would prefer it not to be sky high but just raised up just enough to make a soundbar work without impacting on the remote sensor.0 -
Not got one personally, but, my sisters 50" Tv had the pedestal replaced by one of the stands and has no problem with it. The kids haven't managed to knock the TV over yet.
Most of them can be adjusted up and down. I think she has THIS one, as you can see, it has an anti trip strap. I can't remember if it's fitted to hers or not.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
