Any disadvantages to having two large windows?

Type 'Safestyle Windows' into the search panel at the top of this page, and you will probably re-think your choice of supplier

You might want to try searching this forum for reviews of Safestyle...Jonathan_Powell said:For those who've been struggling to sleep and checking this thread every minute for an update, I have one. Safestyle called me back to let me know the window will be too large to have to large openings. I've now got to let them know what I want. For the bedroom, will likely copy what we have already with 3 panes of glass. For the kitchen, I asked if we could do one pane which opens from the bottom but that's not possible.
Thinking I'll go with 2 smaller windows on each side and one big windows in the middle.
doh, dogshome beat me to it!0 -

I looked at Everest, SafeStyle and Crystal Windows. They all had horror stories and at the time SafeStyle actually had the best reviews of TrustPilot. Even now, they are all around 4/5ic said:

I think the general advice is, if you've heard of a double-glazing company, avoid them. Use a local firm that doesn't spend so much on national marketing campaigns instead. The job could well be subbed out to the same installers either way!

TrustPilot allows companies to remove reviews they don't like - so its a fake score. Ask friends and neighbours (say on local Facebook group) for local suppliers. You'll be stunned at the price difference - and no haggling, buy one get one free nonsense either.
You say you went with "what the guy suggested" - I expect he's trying to make the windows as cheap as possible to manufacture in order to reduce the price and secure your order. Do what looks right - it'll cost a lot of money to fix later if you decide it looks wrong when done. What works depends on the size of the window, the size of the house, and what neighbouring houses have.0
