Old cash ISA can be split? Limits?

With cash isas , sometimes its this " If the tax year ends and you haven't paid in any more money, the next time you try to pay in, you'll need to fill in an ISA renewal form to reactivate your account." which is a bit of a nuisance , but as long as its no worse that that even with s/s isas it'll be fine as long as I know . Forewarned is forearmed as Cold Iron would say. Thanks all.0
