non-covid cancelled flight refund

2 Posts

Hi all,
I have booked a flight with AtlasGlobal airline (a Turkish airline) earlier this year and about a month before the flight I received an email from Gotogate saying that the flight is cancelled as the airline declared bankruptcy. Unfortunately, this was as the same time as the outbreak of Covid-19 and as my enquiry was unrelated I didn't get any help. Tried contacting the airline and it's not possible. I have paid nearly 400.00 GBP and I do want my money back. I couldn't do a chargeback with my bank as it was past 120 days when I called them. I have opened a file under Turkish passenger right but I don't have high hope for that either (didn't see good reviews for it). I was wondering if anyone knows if I can take them to small claim court as they are a foreign company? Or if anyone has any suggestion that how I can get my money back would be very appreciated.

was it a debit or credit card you paid with? if credit card and over £100 then look at S75
going to court would likely be a waste of time and cost as the airline is bankrupt.
As gotogate are the airline's customer I suspect they will be the ones to register as a creditor of the bankruptcy....although I suspect that may also end up a dead end if there is no money to pay creditors
