Refund to default account

Interesting discussion.I always thought a credit card refund would be paid back to the original source. However, in February I booked a TUI package holiday for my son + family with the reservation in his name - I paid on my Amex. When it was cancelled by TUI they would not refund to my card and he had to arrange a refund direct to his bank account. So, there are circumstances when refunds can be directed elsewhere, although not consistent with the OPs scenario.0

Some of the travel companies are trying to keep their money out of the hands of credit card companies - a cat and mouse game. That may be why they wanted to repay to a bank account.NoodleDoodleMan said:Interesting discussion.I always thought a credit card refund would be paid back to the original source. However, in February I booked a TUI package holiday for my son + family with the reservation in his name - I paid on my Amex. When it was cancelled by TUI they would not refund to my card and he had to arrange a refund direct to his bank account. So, there are circumstances when refunds can be directed elsewhere, although not consistent with the OPs scenario.0 -
I might speak to aqua and explain the circumstances and hope for the best. Thank you all0

Spoke to aqua and they confirmed the refund would go off the debt but she advised I spoke with stepchange who are dealing with the debt relief order as they may be able to assist but couldn't guarantee so will see what they say0

Our separate package, also paid via Amex, was cancelled relatively soon after by TUI and refunded to my card, no other option offered.Nebulous2 said:
