I put an air freshener in my car, do I need to declare it as a modification as it doesn't come with one as standard?

It isn't a modifiction it is a cleaning product. What next? Declare that your car has a wax polish rather than a cheapo carwash?

A can of Armor ceramic coating is like £17.99 + delivery + cloth + an hour or 2 to apply.  Not a modification its a cleaning/protection product.
I have a leaflet offering it FREE if you take four issues of Auto Express for 99p.
    I haven’t been tempted.

I'm assuming OP means one of the more expensive ceramic coatings? Some of them are really expensive, but would they honestly count as a modification?

If you expect a repair centre to re-do it after a damage repair, and it will cost them money to do it, then it's a modification.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
