    If your wife did indeed state the price when ordering then that was her offer. Acceptance must match the terms of the offer exactly, in order for a contract to be formed. If it does not match exactly then their "acceptance" would not be acceptance and would instead be a counter offer, which you would be free to accept or reject. 

    Acceptance must be communicated in order for it to be effective. Silence cannot amount to acceptance but positive action can - such as performing the contract, by dispatching goods. 

    Any variations to terms (particularly the core terms) after a contract is agreed, are only effective if the other party agrees to the changes.

    On top of that, consumer contracts regulations stipulate they need to send certain info in a durable medium before the consumer is bound by the contract. Any change to that information, made before or after entering the contract is (again) not effective unless expressly agreed. Part of the info they need to give is total price.
