I contacted DWP because Capita havnt rang for a phone assessment.
They said the forms have come back to DWP because capita have sent them back. I said I havnt had a phone assessment, so DWP said leave it with us and I should get a decision.
I don't understand 🤷♂️

If the assessment report has been returned to DWP then you've had a paper based assessment. This means they had enough of information to write the report and no phone assessment was needed. It's rare to have a paper based assessment but it's definitely possible. Ring DWP to request a copy of the report, this will give you some idea what the decision is likely to be because they mostly go with the report.

The said it could of been universal credit who phoned me to book an appoinment for my phone assessment. She said it could take another 8 weeks from yesterday for a decision. I sent the forms back on 5th October.0 -

Oh i see, i was just advising based on what you said yesterday.. that it had been returned to DWP. As they've only just been sent to the health assessment providers then you should expect a telephone assessment, which have replaced face to face assessments. Paper based assessments are still rare. There's no timescales for waiting times, once an appointment becomes available they will contact you.

You need to phone back to Capita to clarify the situation. Capita are contracted (along with ATOS) to carry out PIP assessments while Maximus (under the name CHDA) carry out Work Capability Assessments for UC and ESA.

As you only returned the form on 5th October then it's very likely that your file hadn't even been sent when to the health assessment providers when you spoke to DWP yesterday. The timescale you were given today is nothing more than a guide. Sometimes it can take that long just for the assessment.

I'm a little confused by this thread. Why would the OP phone Capita if the PIP form had just been posted last week (and which the DWP have now sent to IAS / ATOS)? And even more, why would Capita say they have sent back a form that they never had in the first place?

No idea. When the OP said DWP had received the form back, i assumed they meant the assessment report. I didn't even realise they had very rencently sent the form to DWP and the chances of having any news on this right now would be very slim.

So they are just at the start of the process.
Perhaps if OP gave some dates it might clear any confusion?
Date app started, when forms returned etc.Life in the slow lane0
