And what if you don't, but then do? Are people not allowed to change their minds? Is "not sure" an option? Is the UK now an island prison? (Please don't answer the last question.)epm-84 said:
On the form you fill in for return to the UK you now have to declare whether you intend to leave the UK within 14 days of your arrival.silvercar said:Even at the moment, anyone obliged to isolate can legally break the isolation o leave the country, I can’t see that changing.0 -

hardly any point in making anyone "lockdown" for 2 or 3 weeks if you are going to continue to allow people in and out of the country no matter what measure are in place for them - there are too many exceptions to the 14 day quarantinebigfer said:Anyone prepared to hazard a guess as to what would happen to flights if the rumoured 2-3 week circuit breaker is deployed?
Personally i would think flights would still be allowed on the basis that most people will be required to quarantine for 14 days on arrival into the UK. But if anyone has heard contrary on the rumour mill, i would be interested in finding out0 -
Technically it's a UK Overseas Territory not a country.Butts said:
Don't forget Gibraltar !!!epm-84 said:
Well as things stand Sweden is the only European country everyone from the UK can visit without having to pay for a test or having to self-isolate. Most of Greece is also available to those living in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with all but one of the Greek Islands available for Scotland. Germany is only still available to Southerners.eskbanker said:Given the direction of the UK numbers, it seems to me that restrictions imposed by other countries on arrivals from the UK are more likely to be a constraint than anything at this end....0 -
True, but even with it's quite high infection rate per 100,000 still accessible with no caveats either end.epm-84 said:

Westminster seems to think it's OK for British people to move around to other parts of the UK, unless the local administration objects.Butts said:

I wonder if the infection rate in Gibraltar is higher than the Spanish province of Andalucia, if it is then it would be a bit stupid that you could spend a few days in Gibraltar after leaving Spain and it would reduce the period you were need to self-isolate for after returning home.0 -
Quite low compared to say Liverpool!Butts said:

Worth pointing out that the population of Gibraltar is only around 33,000. So each single case counts as 3 in the "per 100,000" data. This does mean that statistics for Gibraltar look very volatile and that would have been taken into account when deciding whether it should remain in the travel corridor.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Worth noting Mykonos, with a population of 10,000, is not part of the UK travel corridor with Greece, despite only having an infection rate of 20 in 100,000 i.e. 2 people when the government last reviewed the Greece, which has since gone up to 30 in 100,000.silvercar said:

Also worth remembering for other countries the government takes in to account the testing rate and hospital capacity before deciding whether or not to advise against travel, which is why Bulgaria had an advisory against travel when it only had an infection rate of 14 in 100,000.0 -
Daily testing capacity differs considerably. In this regard the UK is now performing exceptionally well. When looking at the "league tables" easy to forget that it's not a level playing field. As increased testing capacity will detect more cases. A more relevant measure would be the % rate of positive tests.0
