You may struggle to get an oven underneath a hob due to this protrusion, but I’d guess there is a workaround.
Won't be an issue for me as there's only drawers going under the hob. Won't be a problem to add a dummy drawer or a blank bit.

Another question I had was about using the compound application that @Doozergirl mentioned to blend together the joins. I've got an L shape kitchen so I need two worktop slabs. One is 3 metres long and the other is 3.1 metres long.

Obviously, I'm keen to use the compound to blend the joins of the two slabs. But it feels really wasteful if I have to buy a 4 metre slab for that extra 10cm on that one side. So I thought maybe I could save some money by getting a small 10cm off cut piece to attach to the side that needs 3.1 metre slab and use the compound to make it seamless. Thoughts on the viability of this?

Duropal also do this as their compact range and they are well renowned as being one the best producers of laminate worktops. I'd also echo the comment above about being mindful of the thickness when setting in a hob over for example an oven as you'll have to compensate accordingly which means you may have a largish gap between the underside of the worktop and the top of the oven.
Duropal is what has been recommended to me, and that's what I'll be going with. It's got the granite look and durability but not the price tag (£5k is what I was quoted for my work surfaces!).

Yes, but you need to find the cut off.  We've got a Minerva worktop at home, similar join technique, and I used the kitchen off-cut for the bathroom vanity.  Worst case, you can probably find a good use for it.

Are there any good companies within London that do supply and fit of compact laminate worktop surfaces?
I'm probably going to go with Howden's kitchen and they do not have a suitable colour or length of worktop for me to get it from them. I'd really like to get one company that will do the supply and fit.
