  • I wonder when they will start talking about giving money to the unemployed to buy houses? Now might be a good time to float the idea.....
That would actually help create jobs so...

Yeah, let's give everyone cash to buy holidays as well since that will keep chauffers' and travel agents and holiday companies employed, and maybe we should go further and give people free money to buy cars, caravans and yachts too, f*** that let's get everyone unemployed and then maybe everyone would be employed right, everyone would be in work yeah serving the free money we've all been given ??  We'd all be having parties in the street, sharing our free money and living the high life - who pays for this ??  Maybe the next generation, the one after that  - how proud they would be that mum, dad, grandparents and the ones before them for spunking money like no tomorrow with no ability to pay for what they have.

Entitled youth - bullsh*t - entitled aduldthood - we don't want to work, give us it all for free while we complain about everyone else wanting stuff for nothing in a world where wealth is so dis-proportionate.  Yeah lets give money to unemployed to buy houses huh ??

Some brilliant ideas in there btw.  Especially your idea to subsidise electric car purchases.

I love it when people realise they worked their !!!!!! off all their lives for things that other people are then given for free.  That penny dropping moment that they wasted their life because it’s all meaningless hopefully hasn’t come too late for you @kevinphilips

So when will this government backed mortgage scheme start? Will everyone be able to get a 95% mortgage even with bad credit?
If that happens again we will have a return of 2008 problems on top of this current crisis

Are you suggesting that it could lead to a Depression, or even worse, the so called ‘Great Depression’ that ‘some people’ keep suggesting?

My original reply was slightly tongue in cheek,  as I've been banging on about government spending to aim for full employment as the best way to get out of unemployment crisis.
I recognise (or think) that the effect or multiplier for the example cited isn't particularly great. However, I would say where there was no need for a conveyer, estate agent, removals, cleaners and the like, there now would be.
