Internet working but not on TV

  • This happens to me from time to time.
My smart tv is part of my home network and is connected to the internet wirelessly.
When I get the error message on the tv that there is no connection, I go to my desktop computer and click on the control panel. Then on to network settings, followed by media and streaming options on the left hand side menu. If you open this up, you should see a list of allowed devices including your television with an adjacent box which should be ticked.
This routine always solves my problem and if you press the source button on your tv remote, you should see your computer appear as one of the connected devices.
I really can’t explain the technicalities of this fix, but in my case, it nearly always occurs after Windows updates which I think interfere with the settings.
Anyway, hope this helps if you happen to have a similar set up to me.

  • Thanks for this⬆ will have a go
  • It didnt work unfortunately so back to ethernet cable. Will have another go when Ive got some spare time.
