Though start from the beginning, apologies. It's a great tonic if you are feeling tired or guilty if you can't get 27 meals from one chicken....0

That is pure classic , of the best that still remainSlinky said:I know this isn't from OS, but this is THE classic thread on MSE. If you've not read it before, I hope you enjoy it!
Another giggle are the Bluelass's threads, esp her uncle
But on a serious note, the not buying it thread from 4 or 5 years ago in old style was the thread that opened my eyes to communism and how I was buying into it0 -
Is this the one Apintplease? https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5125747/not-buying-it-2015-a-consumer-holiday
Looks like a good read, mumtoomany.Frugal Living Challenge 2026.

What a brilliant idea for a thread. Thank you. I will read the suggested threads with interest. Can anyone recommend any good Debt Free Diaries?
During my lunch breaks in 2017, I read the entire Sneaky Ways to Save The Pennies thread followed by it’s successor, Lots More Sneaky Ways to Save The Pennies. Entertaining, interesting and money saving.

Hi Pip, a few of my favourites to start you off. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5578891/from-debt-to-freedom/p1, beautifully written with wonderful descriptions of her walks.
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5747733/rock-bottom-became-the-solid-foundation-on-which-i-rebuilt-my-life/p1 and
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6190158/first-steps-to-solvency/p1 two diaries in complete contrast. One a single mum of three living on almost nothing, the other a guy debating which of his three cars he could get rid of! Both seen to be getting there.
Lastly an old one I have just re-read
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5402722/a-diary-of-reinventing-ourselves/p1. A woman fighting debt and her husband attitude.
Hope you like some/all of these. When you've finished, if you ever do, 22 Foxhole East on the mortgage free wannabe thread is also good. Hope you hadn't got much planned for the weekend! Mumtoomany.Frugal Living Challenge 2026.

Thanks @mumtoomany. I will have a read, although they will take me more than a weekend.mumtoomany said:Hi Pip, a few of my favourites to start you off. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5578891/from-debt-to-freedom/p1, beautifully written with wonderful descriptions of her walks.

This was hilarious 😊. Something similar happened to me. I bought a repossession, moved in and found the previous owner living on the doorstep in a minibus. Quite literally as my front door opens onto the footpath. Worryingly, this was his home, his place of work and his only mode of transport. I cannot imagine what went on inside but it wasn’t washing. I only ever saw him in a blazer and loafers.....in addition to his trousers thankfully 😅. Any threatening letters used to go under the wipers. The police were about as much use as a pair of peep toe wellies when they found out he was shorter than me so posed no danger. I am 5ft 1. Yes, he was shorter than that. Nothing as entertaining as real life!Slinky said:And when you've finished that one, here's my other favourite1
