The Famous Grouse (Smoky Black). A grouse.

Well, at least you're given some warning on the elaborate packaging of this blended Scotch whisky: that it's smooth, peaty and aromatic. There's also the meaningless blurb of BLENDERS EDITION 1, the words conjured forth by the company's advertising agency in a design intended to look like some kind of special seal, or medallion, or award.
According to Tesco, the usual price of Blenders Edition Number 1 is £19, but was offered by the supermarket at £14.
Unfortunately, Famous Grouse (Smoky Black) tastes and smells so much like the liquefied soil of a field on which a herd of cows has just over-nighted that £1.40p would be too much.
Says the gold on black text of the box: We have been perfecting the art of whisky blending since 1800. It's what we do.'
The customer's fault, then, for thinking the distillery was talking about a time two centuries ago, when it actually meant six o'clock last night.
Avoid.

If your not happy with it you could fire off an email to the owners of The F G, you never know they might send you something in return.
Or see if Tesco would give you a refund based on the customer not being happy with the purchase.
Could do both actually.1 -
Too late now, but I wouldn't buy a bottle of spirits unless I had tried it before. I know that could be hard at the moment with lockdown.2

What on earth do you think peaty whisky would be?

As the saying goes."Anyone who says they don't like whisky just hasn't tasted enough to find the one they do like."
If you buy a peaty whisky it will taste of peat. I've had Black Grouse many years ago and quite enjoyed it so I assume this is an updated version. Famous Grouse has recently been through some ownership changes so they may be rebranding some lines.2 -
Thanks for the warning! I liked the quip that 1800 must have been a time rather than a year. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1

Not a complete peat dump. There's no evidence of any attempt to achieve a balance here, a reminder to me of the wisdom of continuing to steer clear of blended whiskies(my own favourite tipple is single malt, not the big name big brand stuff comprising 'blended' ingredients of unknown provenance and, frequently, awful taste.

Then why did you buy it? You don't like blended whisky so don't buy it. Price has very little to do with taste. I am not a big fan of peaty whisky having spent too many weekends on Islay. I prefer the highland or speyside malts.
