well just got back from NEVER BACK DOWN at bluewater. 2 people walked out of a half full screen. what can I say a VERY poor cross between karate kid & fight club. the differnce being I was interested in the characters of KK & fight club. here couldn't care less who got the crap beaten out of em!!! and what was Djimon Hounsou doing in it? a great actor wasted on a poor film. would give it 5/10 only because there were 3 bits that made me laugh out loud and some excellent music in the soundtrack, kanye west.. but had to wait till 15 mins from the end for them.

I loved it. I thought it was funny, but thoughtful and sad in parts. I'd give it 10/10

Which film are you referring to?
Should I assume Never Back Down?

Hi - just thought I should log my comments on Drillbit Taylor for 'the club':D .

I wouldn't have chosen to go and see it if I was paying, but it was surprisingly entertaining. I saw Superbad (by mostly the same people) last year courtesy of this forum, and couldn't help but think it was very similar. The three main boys could definitely have been younger versions of the Superbad ones!

I took my 11 year old DD who is in the first year of secondary school and experiencing some full on teenage girl beatch bullying - and she thought it was great - very empowering! I hope she doesn't go to the extremes of these boys though, I can barely afford her pocket money let alone subsidise a bodyguard.

Josh from Drake and Josh was in it ( if you have a young teenager you will know who I mean) and I was shocked to see that he looked all thin, grown - up and handsome! I felt a bit pervy thinking that, but according to IMDB he is in his twenties now, so that's OK. :D

On a negative note it felt really long, but wasn't.

Me and B give Drillbit Taylor 6/10.
  • saw son of rambow tonight - it was ok for a time filler, but i wouldnt rant and rave about it. I guess the humor wasn't all in my taste but the cinema seemed to be in roars of laughter so i guess it was to liverpools liking lol

Anyone getting confused (like I did!) by that last posting on the codes thread it's a duplicate for the 8th April 'In Bruges' screenings, not the 15th April ones as listed.

It had the makings of a good film- had they explored the relationship between Ryan and his father more- they touched on it but didn't really make you sympathise with him as a character. Same with Jake really, would have liked to explore the background more rather than a couple of flashbacks and the mothers only nice moment being when she met Djimon Hounsou. did feel sad when Ryan got hold of Max- but you could see it coming a mile off. I did wonder if it was perhaps not aimed at my demographic but DD1 who is 16 didn't really enjoy it and she had been really keen to see it. But that is why so many films are made so that each can find an audience.
