I liked Son of Rambow. It was a bit silly in parts but it reminded me of Gregory's Girl.
  • Saw Son of Rambow last night in Brighton, and thought it was great. It's a very sweet and funny story, even funnier if you grew up in the 80's. Would have paid for it!
  • Saw Son of Rambow last night, in Cardiff, I thought it was OK.

It was a little bit slow, but I laughed a few times, and thought overall it was quite sweet. I'd still only give it 6 or 7 out of 10 tho. Probably worth going to see for free, or on DVD, maybe not worth paying to see in the cinema tho.

Elski5, I quite liked this film, but wasn't really into Be Kind Rewind, maybe Wolverine was just commenting on the mixed reviews it was getting :o)

ah thanks so it's more of a lottery if you like it or not...
I think it depends if you like for the 80s stuff and for something a bit different...:)

Yes, I hated Be Kind Rewind but loved Son of Rambow. Different people, different tastes obviously. And I did grow up in the 80's....

I wouldn't say they were good films to compare didn't really like bkr but liked son of Rambow, but mainly because of the 80's references. I wouldn't have been happy had I paid for either, but as a free trip to while away a couple of hours bearable.

Wolverine was comparing it to the reviews of Be Kind Rewind, but I don't know if he meant that people that liked BKR liked Son of Rambow also.

Nah just saying that the ratings were poles apart - lots of 1s and 7s or 8s
Similar to BKR, if I recall
    cheepskate28, i've recorded 6.5, is that okay?

  • This post may well split opinion but I'm going to post it anyway.

I think that SFF is a great concept however I am concerned that it may withdrawn due to the blatant abuse of it by some users.

Why oh why do some people feel it necessary to obtain tickets for the same screening on the same night at different venues all across the UK? I am aware that some of you offer these to others via PM's but if you didn't apply for them in the first place then maybe there would be enough left for those who did wish to attend.

SFF already have a system in place whereby you can hand your tickets back if you genuinely can't go so that they can be put back into the pot. You can even obtain a covering note saying the tickets will show a name differnt from the bearer if you wish to pass them on to people you do actually know.

Fair enough if you are applying for tickets for your friends and family, but I can't understand why someone would get tickets for a screening miles away from them and then offer them to strangers. Is it just to make you look good?

I'm furious that yet again I missed out on a screening last night, only for someone who did attend to tell me that there were plenty of empty seats. I wonder how many people were sitting at home with tickets because they had been greedy and applied for tickets to a screening that they could not possibly attend as it was on the other side of the country!
