You should be able to find out yourself with a little detective work, no need to call in a sparks.
As previously suggested you can find out which meter serves each appliance by unplugging things and switching circuits off at the consumer unit.  Assuming you have reasonably modern meters, when you have switched on say only one (cold) NSH or immersion heater (cool or cold water), just watch the flashing red light on it to see which one is supplying the power. Note the meter reading and look at your bill to see whether it corresponds to the cheap(ish) or expensive meter.

OP, you said that your supplier, Green Energy, does not offer E7 or E10. This is not correct: all suppliers offer E7, but only the legacy suppliers offer E10, or its Scottish equivalent. However, if you have 2 meters and pay 2 standing charges, then you must be on E10 or the equivalent.
So, how did you manage to switch to Green Energy, because they will not support the old legacy tariffs? Who was the previous supplier?
I suspect that maybe you have 2 entirely separate supplies to the one property, hence 2 standing charges? If it's a croft, could one supply be originally for agricultural purposes maybe?
Please can you post pics of the meters?
PS: just because the building is listed does not mean that your LL cannot do basic draughtproofing and update the heating and it's controls: that just sounds like an excuse for inaction. And why don't you get him to explain the current install properly to you?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • macman. thanks. yeah it must be e10- def got told by customer services no such thing as e7 with them!! I moved in 7 years ago- previous tenant had changed from Scottish power (i think) to green energy. first thing my landlord said was i dont know if they any good you might want to change. But i looked them up and liked their green credentials and from the info i provided most comparison sites rated them high up. Its not a registered croft- indeed i had to apply for agri status to have livestock here when i moved in.  i know- i think i am scared i might get kicked out- one person in a 2 bed farm house, with a wee bit of land and not paying half what i did for a single bed flat in london! only matter of time when theyll want it back i s'pose. just have to stay cold to keep me roof for now; is fine just always bugged me about those darned heaters!!

  • GerryG- thanks so i have now figured the lights and sockets are on the expensive metre and the heaters and hot water boiler are on the cheaper one!  better go turn all the lights off!!
