Smeg washing machine

Hi all. I have a smeg WMI 12C7 washing machine I need help with. I have removed the detergent drawer and where the water comes out from, the holes are blackened badly. I have cleaned them a few times because the powder was not coming into the drum. I had to switch to liquid detergent and then this was not coming through as well. Also the conditioner is doing the same. Now I've been using detergent that goes into a bowl straight into the drum. When I put my finger into the pipe where the detergent is supposed to go down, that is also slimy. I have used Dr Beckams washing machine cleaner but has no effect. Any advice will be appreciated. Cheers

  • Forgot to mention, the water is coming out of the holes into the detergent drawer but the detergent and conditioner still do not come into the drum. At the end of the wash, they are still in the detergent drawer.

If the water is filling the detergent draw and running down to the drum the feed system must be ok otherwise the machine would flood your kitchen ,try boiling the kettle ad pouring water into the machine with the drawer removed, this should clear the slime and black gunge ,i would also remove the detergent draw and clean it fully in a sink of soapy water.

Try running a few maintenance washes , ie, 90 degrees, using detergent and white vinegar in the softener section.

Remove the fill hose at the back of the m/c ( turn off the water first) there should be a hose washer with a fine mesh ( inlet filter) this might be blocked, clean it out if it is,,( water pressure may not be sufficient to wash the detergent in) ,
remove the soap drawer and, where the softener goes, there should be a little tube or such, this siphons the detergent, into the drum, switch to biological powder and use a hot wash every so often

If the filter is not in the hose, look at the rear of the water valve, it might be in there, although I’m not sure if they come out, they do on commercial washers, not too sure with domestic

I believe you mean where the water enters the detergent drawer the holes are blocked up where the detergent sits and therefore is not flushing the dtergent into the drum?

If so you need to turn off the water to the machine , pull it out and remove the lid ( two screws holding it on at the back of the machine , once removed the lid slides towards the back to remove) you should then have access to the top of the detergent drawer and the water pipe which feeds it , which should make it easy for you to clean the pipes and drawer

Bunged up with detergent and fabric softener.  Take the drawer out, and soak it in a sink of hot water and bleach.  Clean out the drawer housing with plenty of hot water.
The drawer and drawer housing of my 12 month old washing machine are still spotless.  I use capsules in the drum and distilled vinegar in the drawer (in lieu of fabric softener).
  • Thanks to everyone for the replies. Water does come out of the holes in the drawer, but for some reason the soap powder gets soggy and the conditioner is watered down. However, neither leaves the drawer.

If the syphon fo the softner is clogged up, it won't drain properly.  Pull out the drawer and give it a good clean - there are bits the pull off so you can get into the mechanism.  https://www.manualslib.com/manual/155877/Smeg-Wdi12c.html?page=27#manual

I also think that it's all about a good clean, that you should do.
