Go out and buy yourself some bags of ice and fill the salad crisper drawer.  You may have to change these every day or so but they should keep your fridge cold (keep the opening of the door to an absolute minimum).  Move everything that could spoil to as low as possible in the fridge - and even consider packing any free space with old blankets, newspapers, sheets, cushions.

A couple of years ago this is exactly what we had to do when our fridge/freezer failed (and we could not get one delivered for almost 5 days). We spent about £8 on ice over the time but we lost nothing from the fridge or freezer.

If you are looking compensation for lost food then check your house insurance.
