But Faraway the bees or any other insects didn't visit them.
They prefered the high table of multiple lavenders and open flowers which aren't as hard work as teeny tiny ground hugging.
They will come Spring when they may be the only nectar around

Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens

Fields growing crops.. I guess not a million miles away, maybe 300-500m away with a few houses in between, were you thinking something carried over from them? Got a few rows of tomatoes, veg and fruit trees in the garden too if that's a factor?

these are not factors. Both these species are typical grassland species and your lawn is grassland. Selfheal responds well to mowing and yarrow does well when it's dry and nutrient levels are low and the grass is doing poorly. As much as I prefer lawns to be far more than grass selfheal forms larger patches fairly quickly due to the mowing so I can see that it is more annoying than some. I have dealt with it in one lawn with one of those combination weedkiller, fertilizer and grass seed products.
  • Fields are not an issue... I was just interested, my research showed bristly oxtongue is sometimes known as  a crop weed.

Faraway I don't have grass any more, just dandylions and this stuff visible through the patio doors all day every day so I'm biased.
Especially when I have so many bee friendly plants blooming from March to October and this darn stuff blooms in August.
Doesn't have to be a perfect lawn, just a minimum of 60/40 grass to weed. I prefer the herbs I use. ;)

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I think top one is Self heal
and my guess is that  3rd one is Hawkweed- it has a dandelion like flower, but smaller and can be orange
