Vendor is a nightmare to contact - still not heard back on our offer

    I’d probably look elsewhere. Sounds like the job is an excuse not to communicate. As others have said she can reply via email of an evening/ from the loo/ on her break. I wouldn’t want to be waiting weeks for a response during the conveyancing process. 

    Btw I also work shifts 7-7.30 days and night and can’t just answer my phone but it doesn’t make me uncontactable 5 days a week. 
    This is my feeling too. Most of my jobs have been ones where your phone has to stay in a locker, but I can't see why you would want to sell a property and yet not be able to even send a quick email at the end of your shift, which the estate agent would see the following morning. 
  • Bit of a tangent here. Of course there are jobs where people can;t access phones/emails.
    The question is, would they then ignore answerphone messages and emails when returning home?

    If there was an emergency a family member could contact my employer but selling a house isn’t an emergency. 

    But surely if you were selling a house you would contact the estate agent if someone has made an offer on your house?

    I don't disagree about emails. No excuse there.
    Personally, where I can, I'd rather talk to an EA or Solicitor via email. I have a written trail if something goes the way of the pear.

    I have to agree that it doesn't bode well if there are already issues contacting the vendor so early on in the process.  It would really put me off, especially if you are working (as most are) towards completing before the end of the SDLT holiday.  Nobody needs unnecessary delays in what is already likely to be a long process.

    Did you offer under the asking price?  Perhaps she is just stalling in the hope that she will get a better offer.

    Yeah planning on meeting that deadline. We offered her 8% under asking but its been on the market since Feb. We are chain free so thought 8% under wasnt a bad offer atall

    I guess it depends on how much she wants to move; she might be a reluctant seller in the first place (death/divorce forces sale etc.)

    8% below asking on our property would have been 38k and they would have been given a very firm "no".  Then again, we haven't been on since February and luckily had a full AP offer (plus 2 at 3% below) on the first day of viewing.  Maybe if it had been sat there for 8 months then we'd have considered it.
