The link you provided actually confirms that it should be possible to have a trusted device which does not require a landline call, or a text message, to authenticate yourself.

The only other difference between your and my login might be that I have my mobile registered, alongside my landline. They have texted me the code I needed to log in initially. You're right, though, call them and get them to sort it for you.
