Facebook...Sharing post from Group to Page

Options
I am Admin for a FB Group which is for the local area of a national charity; for which they run a UK Page .
Sharing a post from the UK Page (and other areas) to our Group is easy enough, but I cannot find a way to share from our Group to the UK Page.  The Share button does not give me a Share to Page option, only Share to Group or my personal time line etc.

The Admin for the UK Page is able to come onto our Group and share to their Page, but that is not ideal as I would like to be able to do this myself.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

  • Have the admins of that page enabled members/followers to post/share to their page?
  • Have the admins of that page enabled members/followers to post/share to their page?
I will ask them, but I'm not getting an option to share to a Page when I select Share and that is before I've begun to type in where I want it to go IYSWIM
  • Are you a follower of other pages where you've been able to share things?
  • I think that I have shared to my daughter's page from other groups/pages.  Apart from the couple of Groups I am admin for, I don't use Facebook much; certainly my personal page has been almost unused for a few years apart from the few 'shares' to my daughter (selected individually from my list of friends) of something I've seen.  I will check that they have reached her!
  • Hang on ... your daughter's page or your daughter's wall? (A person's profile/wall and a business/organisation's page are very different things).
  • Thank you so much for your help here, you can see that I'm on a steep learning curve and my terminology is not always correct.
Yes, I mean my daughters profile/wall which I guess is not the same as the Page of the UK charity.  The Admin of the charity Page is also learning... think ladies of a 'certain age' .... lol
  • I had a quick look at my own Facebook account and found that I couldn't share anything to ANY page (other than the page I created for our local Table Tennis club, as I'm the owner and admin of that page). The only options I've got for sharing are groups I'm a member of, and walls for my contacts. So it looks like you won't be able to do what you're looking to do - at least not without being given relevant permissions by the admin of that page. (In which case you'd share the content whilst looking at that page, rather than trying to share to the page).
  • I've looked at the UK page again and notice that some posts from regions appear to have an extra UK 'header' .  So there is a header from ****** UK and then beneath it is a second box with
Jane Doe - **** UK and then the post. as if a post has been sent directly to the UK Page and then been 'allowed' before publication.

There are also posts that appear to be shared from other regions but I now wonder if the UK Page has shared it them selves after reading them.  I've messaged them to see if I can work out more what there process is.

I'm sorry that this is becoming a saga, but I can't find any info on line re this apart from the Share button should give me the option to share to a Page, which it doesn't.  My intention is to save the UK Page the trouble of looking at us to share things to them.
  • The scenario you describe is what I said ... you look at the page in question then add a "comment/post". The permissions for the page will determine whether a) you even have the option to do this, b) an admin/moderator needs to approve the post, or c) anyone can do this. Almost every page will have option a) or b) configured. If you're an admin for that page (or perhaps even just a moderator) then option c) will be your default capability.

Ask the admin for the page to make you a moderator (if she's willing to do so) ... that may let you achieve what you're looking to do rather than her having to approve your posts all the time.
  • Do I understand that I am only able to post directly on the UK Page myself rather than Share a post from  someone in my Group, a post that is already on our Group?   I often share posts of interest that I have read on the UK Page and other regional Groups/Pages to our Group with no problem.

I'm waiting to hear from the UK Page having asked if what appears there are only posts directly from members and posts that they have read and then Shared from other Groups/Pages to the UK Page.

I'm not pressing for a post of my own to be fast tracked onto the UK Page, so am happy to wait for them to be approved.

I guess this is learning the differeces between Groups and Pages.

    Thanks again.
