  • As others have said offer to give a donation to charity, say you'll pay it forward. Or perhaps give a thank you gift, nothing flash but a something thoughtful, I bake so in that situation I would give someone something I'd baked as a thank you if I thought they would appreciate/like it
  • This poster shows imagination death. Just do it. Charity, food bank, Amazon gift vouchers. Just do it.

Firstly, why didn't you go into your office and get your chair?
My wife's employer would not allow employees to take their chairs from work.  It makes no sense as the company provided all the other kit they needed.

  • This isn't really a dilemma.. Just accept the kind gesture and give her a bottle of wine or flowers as a thank you
  • As others have said, if you really want to offer something,  try flowers, chocolate, wine etc or treat her to lunch, when possible.

Presumably your friend kept the second chair for her own use, so the spare hasn't cost her anything, but why not take her out to dinner and repay her with that and flowers?
  • Leave it, but remember it.
One day, you might see something shed really like or have an opportunity to pay back the favour by helping her out!
  • Just say thank you and let them know if you can ever do anything for them they just  need to ask.
