I do things like that and would never expect any money. What would your friend do with two identical chairs, she was probably glad to free up the space.

    No means no.
  • Allow her to make a kind gesture and get her some flowers or chocolate as a thank you!

I wouldn't push money as she has said no, but a gift such as flowers would be a nice gesture.

Don't force money on them.  Remember their kindness and try to replicate it - to them and other people
  • Pay it forward or give her flowers or a bottle of wine and let it go. She's clearly happy to help.
  • Don't keep pressing her about money. Either ask her to nominate a charity and donate to it, give her a small pressie as a thank you e.g. flowers, plant, sweets, wine etc. or give her an IOU saying you'll give her a help with something in the future.
  • Surely the company involved want the chair returned and I expect they'll be contacting her about this at some point in the future - she should have advised them that she'd still got it before giving it away to you!
If they contact her, be prepared to give up your chair or she may be charged for it
If it's been definitely given to her by the company buy her a nice thank you present, hopefully you know her well enough to know what she'd like or ask one of her close friends

What about this is a "dilemma"?
  • A small gift to say thanks and pay it forward if and when you can.
