Morning Hugglemonster 😊 I remember the trips to York too, I have told Bug when the world reopens there are places we can go to where we can see how they really lived.Debt total as of this morning is £18733.84. Paid an extra off the Argos card which leaves £998.94 remaining on the balance. With all the ups and downs with the card going up and needing to buy a new handset I feel I lost track of what got paid off. But it’s down! That’s the important part. Will track better next month.
Put £20 to one side this morning towards the end of February pay off. Going to aim to get as close to the Argos card balance that I can. Just don’t like seeing the payoff pot empty 😄2 -
Well, our boiler is broken! We know what needs fixing, just waiting on my brother be able to get out to us. In the mean time, we’ll save a little on gas I suppose! Going to collect some wood later for the log burner, and added extra blankets to the beds. Thankfully it’s a little milder our way so we should be fine. Bug can always climb into ours if it’s too nippy. People have lived with worse than feeling a bit cold 😄Quiet day at home today, a little baking for the weekend and put together our meal plan and shopping list for tomorrow. I’m hoping we’ll keep it around £50 and can cover the replacement boiler part while still being able to save a little 😊1

£8.66 spent today on some work books for Bug, they’re reusable so will be more than worth their money over the next year.Food shopping is done. Spent £28 myself which included dishwasher tablets, and Hubby spent £50 at the butchers. Just waiting for the dust to settle on bills that come out on Monday and then I’ll move some more money out for debt repayments.Bangers and mash for tea tonight and just trying to stay warm 🥶1

Hello!
Decided to keep a full spending diary in February, which I'm hoping will give me a tiny bit more control of our finances. Will update this post through the month.
1st - £15.00 charity donation
2nd - NSD
3rd - £2.09 Lidl, £8.10 Sainsburys (made £10 on marketplace and £23 on a return)
4th - £19.67 (fire fuel and dog food)
5th - £34.73 (store cupboard top up incl vitamins, books for Bugs Home Ed, £4.50 on a Peter Pan costume for his birthday - from eBay.)
6th - £76.72 (food shop)
7th - NSD
8th - NSD
9th - £6.44 (craft supplies)2 -
Charity donation was for a friend's sisters fundraiser as she gave me a huge bin bag of basically new clothes for my nephew.
But a NSD today, hopeful for a majority NSW. Just need to buy bread on potentially Thursday but I'm trying to steer Bug away from so many bread based meals. He just really enjoys a sandwich!
Had a sign up through a referral link to our energy provider so we'll have £50 credit applied to our account on the 21st. Had our bill through and our electricity usage is astronomical at the minute, so the credit will help. We averaged £2.93 of gas per day in January and £4.81 in electricity. Hubby has an old storage heater in his office (loft conversion) so I'm thinking that is the culprit and our electricity usage is £50pm in Summer. I was so stunned by it yesterday I was wondering if we're supplying the neighbours with their electricity tooI think replacing the old storage heater may be something we need to look at this year.
Our front door is finally being replaced tomorrow, we've had the money to one side for this forever but been waiting on the door being made as it's a funny size. I'm very excited to have it done, it's 1930's style and absolutely beautiful. Really keeping everything crossed we fix the boiler tonight or it will be veeeery nippy with the front door off. I know Bug won't stay out of the way so planning him dressed in many layers to watch the unfolding door action.
Pasta bolognese for tea tonight, my personal favourite and really easy to make in the instant pot (and cheap!)2 -
Storage heaters are expensive. But I've noticed the difference in our usage since we've been working from home. Both heating and lighting as days are darker at the moment and usually you would be out all day.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7200
*Virgin Credit Card - £3552.50 - £0
*Natwest - £1828.35 -£400
Barclaycard - £2315.25 - £0.00
Creation Finance - £960.32 £840
*Total debt - £8440/£11641.17*
Savings
*Savings Buffer - £1000/£1500
*Emergency Fund - £1010/£1500

Oh I am relieved it’s not just me! 😂
Busy day today, had the glazers in to finish off our front door, brother in for the boiler and he’ll be back tomorrow. Bug was running around making tea wanting to be helpful and has really tuckered himself out! Had a marketplace sale for £10 so delivered that and let Bug buy a treat with the takings and got Hubby a packet of hobnobs to boot. Returned something to Argos for £23 so will move that to one side then it clears. I’m ready for bed! 😂0 -
We’ve now got £170 to one side for February’s debt repayments ☺️Spent £19.67 yesterday, dog food and fuel for the fire. The boiler repair is hopefully happening today 🤞 bonus is we’ve only used 2 units of gas this week 😂2

Updated spending dairy. Almost £35 and I feel like I really splurged! We stumbled on a really good discounted section of cake decorations - unicorn cupcake decoration kits from £2.50 to 25p, other decorations down to 15p. Long dated and we do a lot of baking so bought some for us and some for friends.Meal plan for next week and shopping list is done. Decided on roast chicken tomorrow as it’s usually a cheaper meat to have and we can have left overs with chips and coleslaw on Monday for an easy tea. Oven is crying out for a clean but seems a bit pointless to do it before roasting a chicken of all things 😅
Sending Hubby to the butchers with a very detailed list. I’ve vocally declared many times that the 3 items on the list are all we need for next week. So we’ll see how that goes 😬
Have £160 in the bank so I’m hopeful we’ll be able to move another £50 into savings after the food shop and not completely drain the bank.
Bug is finishing his breakfast and then we’re suiting up and going for a walk in the rain!
Oh, and the boiler is fixed 😍1
