  • Today's Spends (First of the year!)
    Milk and butter - £4.80
    Toddle order - £15.79
    Total Spend: £20.59

Toddle order was for hand gel and sun/wind cream. Noticed Bug is getting rather sore on his face after walks, and the hand gel is a probiotic one as I hate using the alcohol based ones - these are much kinder to hands especially in the cold weather. Managed to stack some codes so saved £9.30 :)

At work today and the heating is broken, I'm wearing 2 coats and my shawl surrounded by oil filled heaters and I'm still shivering. Roll on home time, working heating and a curry for tea!
  • Well, there's that hey! As soon as I heard news of there being a 8pm announcement, I think we all kind of guessed didn't we? Still, I feel awful for those who aren't classed as essential workers so unable to access school for their children at such short notice.

But on a silver lining, we now have £795 to one side for debt repayments. I think we'll have loan 4 (argos CC, really) cleared by the end of this month now. And as we pay £185 pm to Loan 3 - that should quickly follow with it's own marching orders come the end of February. One bonus of lockdown I suppose, bar one trip out a day it's going to be a lot of staying at home and making the best of what we have.

Speaking of, I've been in touch with the local places we were planning to get meat/veg/flour from to see what their trading plans are. I think most are swapping to delivery which will be handy, as I don't want to be making multiple trips for our food shop as it seems quite selfish although I feel we're shopping this way for good reason. Still be a few weeks before we need much anyhow so will figure it out as we go!
  • Not much but we've now got £800 for the credit card repayment 😊

Have snow snow and more snow forecast tomorrow so I've been to buy what we need from the shops (bread, orange juice, jam etc) as I planned a shop tomorrow, so we can hunker down now until I'm at work on Monday. Also needed flour and got a 3.5kg bag reduced to 88p at the shop, it's not short dated or anything so I'm not sure why that was. Spent £20.78. Plan is to just stay home and stay warm now, its ice on the paths so snow over that does not fill me with any joy. Will stick to the garden!

£875 now 🥳 Will speak with Hubby about paying £500 off the smallest debt.

I've download and printed off two trackers. One being the full 'debt free land' game style sheet, which is a block coloured every £200 paid off, and an Up house one which colours in 1 balloon for every £100 saved towards debt repayment.

Made cornish pasties for dinner, and a chocolate cake that collapsed for supper tonight. I also had a similar collapse putting the mixer back on top of the fridge. Stool just went out from under me! Hit my foot, leg, side, back and shoulder on the way down. Managed not to break the mixer which in the moment, was my only thought 😄 so feeling very sore and sorry for myself now, but feel at one with my sunken chocolate cake. Pasties, however, were delicious. Bug had fun making them!

Our reading subscription box came and Bug really enjoyed the activities, the bonus book included isn't for us but as its £11.99 at Waterstones (subscription box was a trial price of £5) I've put it to one side in our present box.

Currently summoning up the courage to go get the washing out of the machine, who knows what dangers lurk around the corner of your seemingly quiet home!
  • Hubby went to do the full food shop today, £67 spent and I'm really impressed with how much more meat we got for much much less than supermarkets and far better quality. On top of enough meat for the week, we also got 5 pies so we have more than enough and I've paid for our local milk and butter delivery in that too.

Signed up to Smol free trial as although I do make our own detergent to save money at the moment we spend an awful lot on fairy dishwasher tablets so if they're comparable it will be a good switch.

Heating is off today as we're camped in the middle room with the fire going. Hubby and Bug are going for a walk later on but my whole right arm isnt right after yesterday so I'm staying put. Have had the windows open upstairs to air the place, scrubbed the dining table and hearth.
  • Have the left over cornish pasty filling made into a crumble topped pie for our dinner today. Sunken chocolate cake still supplying us with supper 😄 low on baking butter, so need to remember that for next weekends shopping run.

Had a quick skim over our cashback accounts and nothing due paying out. Submitted energy meter readings (gas was lower than expected!) and have bagged up some old clothes to donate once we can.

Feel like everything is ready and organised for the next few days while I'm at work.

Hope you're all having a nice weekend 😊
  • Sorry for the gap in posting but with so little in the bank we've just been aiming for a no spend week.

Only blip was yesterday, needed some white card for a craft project and ordered online instead of going into town to buy some. Just didnt seem essential to physically go, although it would have been cheaper.

Bar our daily walk we've been staying home and behaving. Made yesterdays walk into a dragon quest, and been making the most of the board games we have with the weather not being dry enough our way to play in the garden.

Plan for today is to make some bread, and see if we can get through the day without watching Nutcracker and Peter Pan 😄
  • Paid £110 off our argos card and have £805 to one side for repayments. Hubby's payday is a fortnight away so we can do the big chunk off then. Hopefully we can get this over £1000 still!

Still will have an extra £100 to pay off next week, Hubby had some cashback due to pay out. So that will be a big help.

Got out in the snow for a while yesterday and if it's not too icy will do the same today. Bug loved his sledge!

Slight hiccup as I went to change the milk order, wound up with 4 pints of milk this morning. Bug has had a glass with breakfast and has another with his afternoon snack so I'm sure we'll get through it. But it was a bit of a shock 😄

Simple sausage, chips and beans for tea tonight. Not exactly fine dining but Bug eats it, and it's simple enough to whip up!
  • Managed to conquer home made oven chips last night! 🥳 Really happy as even Bug ate them and he is very picky 😂 next thing to take on is crisps. Have a plan involving a potato peeler which may or may not result in the loss of my finger tips. But after my massive disaster fall in the kitchen last week, we now know housewifery is a dangerous game.

Shopping done for the week, butcher asked how many we wanted our pork joint. I said 4 (sneaky extra person for left overs) Got an eye opening look into the portion sizes at his house. Bloody enormous! Easily 3 times the type of joint we'd buy from the supermarket but we'll roast it tomorrow, gorge on crackling, and live off left overs through to Wednesday 😂

Deep clean of Bugs room this morning. Hoover is on charge and then it's our rooms turn. Try to do the organised mum method when I remember, and I have some funky german foam spray that makes cleaning windows a doddle so I can stay on top of that.

Card arrived in the post so I've made a birthday card for the lady next door who's birthday is tomorrow (also bought her a reed diffuser as a gift) and have a couples illustration for a friends birthday to crack on with this afternoon. If it turns out as well as it looks in my head (ha!!!) Then I'll have an easy go to for no cost gifts this year. Also need to speak with inlaws as we normally take them out for a meal for their birthdays, so going to see if theyd either like a takeaway on us or to have us hold off until the world reopens to go. Will have Bug make and post cards, however.
  • The half pig is roasting away in the oven. Yorkshires, mashed potato, stuffing, roast parsnips and veggies are good to go!

Been for our daily walk this morning. Bug came home with mud in his ears so the sign of puddles well jumped 😄 Present for my friend turned out well so that's a relief, just need to post it off as obviously - cant see anyone! Bugs birthday card to work on next.

Huge loads of washing using Smol tablets and I'm really impressed so will be keeping the non bio as it's good value but not sold on the dishwasher tablets as of yet.

Organised for the week ahead now, dinners packed for work etc. Aiming for another NSW bar Thursday when we'll need some bread or bread flour. Should have some money (quidco) paid in tomorrow so can do a big money shuffle 🥳

Be spending the rest of the day reading, drawing and folding washing. Hope anyone reading this has a nice relaxing day!
