No idea sorry. I didn’t ask him for particulars but he said it was a private parking fine.

Sounds more like he was on private land and they clamped him and charged him to remove it. Story probably got embellished.
  • They followed the correct process, it was your error, sorry, but you've just got to suck it up.
This forum is really full of judgemental posters who seem to get pleasure from others misery and pleasure in scolding others, I've noticed this from just a few posts. Who are you people?
MagnoliaT: I spoke to my bank about the same issue a few days ago as I have the same issue from a parking ticket, it doesn't mean you won't get a mortgage, they look at it on a case by case basis.

    Reality sucks, eh?

D3xt3r5L4b said it in a more concise way, but ultimately people are just being "to the point."  I see no value in sugar-coating things, especially when it leads people to believe that things that are their fault are not their fault.  Accepting that you made a mistake is the first step to solving these issues and more crucially, avoiding doing them again.

Society nowadays seems to be littered with examples of people who just can't take personal responsibility for anything, largely because they've been told their entire lives that it's someone else's fault.  As harsh as some of the responses can be on here, I think that if the thread poster actually takes them on board, they'll be a lot better off for it.

It was the OP who complained about the due process not being followed when actually it was the OP who didn't follow due process and update his/her address with the DVLA.

I don't agree with the posters who say it's too late though.  The OP should read the stickies on the Parking, Fines and Tickets board to see if the parking ticket was valid in the first place and if it wasn't apply to have the CCJ set aside.

Could be. I’ll ask him next time I see him and try to remember to post.

For those who are interested I saw him the other day and this is what he told me (I may have mis-understood).
The fines were for parking in a private car park. He did tell me the details but I didn't follow them all. They came to something like £900 (must have a been a few!)
A default CCJ was obtained which he knew nothing about having moved before it was applied for.
The first he knew was a bailiff turning up at his house and clamping his car. These bailiffs were High Court ones (he said it was the same firm that is on the TV). The CCJ was sent to the High Court for enforcement?
He had to pay up to get his car out. This was something like £2k.
He then applied to his local county court to get the judgement set aside which it was - he had a defence to the fines. The court ordered his money to be returned by the bailiff which it was.
