And given nobody in any position of authority has told the OP to stay at home for 14 days, I believe legally they dont need to. Morally maybe, but I am not getting into that argument.

My Daughter had a test 21/9 and postive on the 22/9. She was at a friend and her sisters house the day before. She gave the information, they were never contacted by track and trace. Both isolated.

Well obviously if you have an actusl test thats a bit different. You get a text saying do so. The OP hasnt been tested and had a positive come back.

To be fair you've got to judge every case by itself, there’s a big difference between your daughter testing positive and telling her friends who she was hanging out with in a bedroom/living room the day before who sensibly isolated and the OP, for all we know it was someone at the workplace but they could be entirely different departments, in the other end of the building, one positive test has not resulted in entire workplaces or schools being shut down and everyone inside isolating in many cases.
  • Wasn't there someone on the recent Panorama program saying that track & trace contacted him after his 14 days isolation period had already ended?

T&T supposedly makes 15 attempts (used to be 10) to contact people within 96 hours of getting the information.

The contact tracers have gone a bit contacty power happy where I am.  Young lad I know tested positive.  The line of questioning he got was a little extreme.  He ended up in effect naming rather a lot of people.
Absolutely none of them had fallen under the terminology of a close contact and they had to argue their cases with the tracers supervisor to be taken of the 14 day isolation database.

A friend of mine was eventually contact by T+T a full week after being notified by their contact that they (the contact) had tested positive. T+T tried to insist that the 14 days started from the day they were contacted; fortunately compliance was not mandatory at that stage!
    It's not difficult!

friend tested positive Sunday and informed me. I had to quarantine fourteen days from when I saw her (Friday).   Track and trace contacted me the following Saturday eight days after I saw her.   Asked if I had been quarantining which I had and informed that I could go out fourteen days after seeing her.   I did nit get any symptoms.  Friend could go out ten days after first symptoms (Friday) so she was out on the Tuesday before me.
