Many thanks to all for your comments. I purchased product key @ £37.99 via eBay. I am pleased to report it worked perfectly."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

i think I would have gone for the £1.99 subscription from eBay, just in case. Was there any reason why you didn't?1

I do like a bargain, but that seemed just too good to be true. I have been stung by eBay crooks previously.
I did not like the requirement that I would have to re-register with a false name."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I would use Amazon for sure.0

Just a bit of an update to fellow forum members on the look for renewal or a lower price.
Was in the market for a renewal today. A yearly thing.
Just googled and found indeed several links to Ebay. Many of them selling sub-accounts and enough in the 35/50£ region who sell legitimate codes that can be used to redeem Office 365 functionality on under your own existing Micrsosoft account. I decided for a company that showed on Klarna Pricerunner - a comparison site. Also Idealo is a good starting point, i have used that several times.
Note that all the codes are for EU/UK so language is not a constraint.
Instead of going for the new monthly £8.49 or yearly £84.90 I am now sorted for £42.82 That's a 50% off0 -
I got tired of the 365 spamming me with irritating features which I don't use. When my license expired, I went back to old school and bought Office 2021."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I've had this subscription thing for a few years now and I've never paid full price for it yet. I most recently got two lots of 15 months for about £42 each, which is 30 months for the same price Microsoft want for 12.Amazon occasionally have deep discounts on Office 365 though they tend to have them around Prime Day and Black Friday as well.0
