Unlike the OP I received notification of a refund due - not by e-mail but by text!  The spammers/scammers/thieves* couldn't even be bothered to spoof a proper DVLA phone number but used a random mobile (+447.....).  Posted also in Praise, Vent and Warnings board.

Loads are sent and from different so called companies, they try their  luck for stuff like this relating to recent events and hope people fall for it.

    1)  Is there really a place called 'Mosquito Way' in England?
    2)  I've been winging it since 1971 so ha!

Anyway, everyone, thank you very much for your reassurances.  Sometimes though, I don't know.  Like the other month my sister had some issue very specifically related to her wages.  Her employers had taxed her when they shouldn't have, but the issue had to be sorted via HMRC.  She was waiting for the money to appear in her bank account, "five working days" etc. when she got an e mail, literally 24 hours after the issue was sorted with HMRC.   It was plausible, apart from the detail related to the return e mail address.  The e mail specifically mentioned the details of the specific issue, but that the writer of the email needed her bank details / sort code etc.  She had never received such an e mail before and the timing was extremely suspicious.  She spoke to an HMRC employee over the phone, who told her they'd sent no such communication.

However, as you say, the thing to do is report them, block them and don't click on the links.  Thanks again!

Yes, probably named because the Mosquito fighter bomber was designed at Salisbury hall, which is near to Hatfield.

You’d think any self-respecting fraudster would at least be able to manage a spell and grammar check.

It's the old De Havilland factory site, now redeveloped into a big business park and uni campus. If you go up the A1M, y'know the big tunnel under the Galleria shopping centre? It's just west of there.
