Enjoy your Blenheim shufti taff. Should the hoardes get too close you're welcome to try my system - start itching and scratching and coughing while looking a bit panicked and saying "oh noo it's back again!" You'll soon have a no-man's-land round you
(That isn't true, I don't do that, that is not a recommendation or anything and you shouldn't either, even though it works.) Count me in to the 'see it want it' group. Thank god I don't have a lot of spare money or I'd be in real trouble ha haa!
Tea snorting here too - reet champion and the shoe phone
The museum link looks interesting Arb, you could lose a lot of time in there eh
Glad you're back on form Farway, and thanks for the mental image of folk tumbling into that trough
18' and sunny here, that's enough now thanks St Fiacre.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -

I'm having a rainy, blowy, chilly day off from thinking.Just running though my Other Bookmarks and thought I'd give you a chuckle........I saw it in the previous year when I could walk and it's on the Dusty part of the coast pathSort of sums up my day really

To be fair, 2p that comment could apply to most of Devon and a good bit of Zummerset too!
We haven't done that Lee's bit of the path yet, though we were in the other, not-far-away Lee last year..... and lost our way spectacularly.
It is raining here too, but not the boiling globe, after-effect, Armageddon they were promising. Quite gentle really. I was hoping for something that would boost the stream long enough for my water Forget-Me-Nots to flower. Once it dries-up the slugs & snails will probably rush (OK, slide) in and gobble them up.I think Northern accents are attractive, and some Scottish ones too, but it's best not to go further perhaps, especially when those with a West Country 'burr,' are usually portrayed in film as a bit lacking upstairs. There might have been a touch of Northern Lights here around midnight, but I couldn't be sure. The sky over both Exmoor and Dartmoor looked brighter than normal, but it wasn't anything like the pictures on social media. It's usually very dark here, but only until one of two security lights nearby kick-in, which they do frequently. Neighbour also has solar fairy lights on his gate, but happily, they seem to have conked-out lately. Sorry 2p!I'm glad some of you came to Arb's rescue over the beans. Apart from the first, I hadn't a scooby. The phone-in-shoe was perfectly logical. Emptying the car after a trip to walking friend's last Friday, I ran out of hands, so I stuck my phone into a new walking shoe I'd taken along and hadn't used. We gardened instead, when I shot this photo of her Canna lilies especially for Farway. If you think that soil looks stodgy and needs either a good mulch, or some surface roughing-up, you'd be right, but it still grows things better than mine! Not Astilbes though. Despite their reputation for coping with the wet, 3 out of 4 are stone dead. There's a bay tree not half a metre from them absolutely flourishing. That's gardening for you; totally unpredictable!

I think we’re all guilty of that sometimes, AR. I know I nip in during the day for a quick catchup and don’t always comment.
Tatties update - the Maris Pipers are indeed sprouting. I saw one possible little green shoot yesterday but wasn’t sure - today there are five obvious shoots - I’m truly amazed 😁 so that’s four out of five bags so far. The last one is the Saxon baking potato, but I’m not holding my breath for that one 😂
It’s just started to rain here, so no need to water my plants... 🌱'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
We know we are AbsI knew the first was broad beansThe second probably runners with a rogue broard beanAnd the third I thought was a courgette............Dusty that sign was on the path from Putsbro to Croyde. A good path for the knees, lots of fresh air and the smell of Gorse.Bad luck with the neighbours Blue. My neighbour has her 40yr old son returning to her tiny 2 bed bungalow with 6yr old son and baby visiting shortly so my peace and layins won't be a thing. She'll be cooking, cleaning, childminding as well as looking after her aged mother who won't do anything for herself. I try to keep my face neutral with the whole storySo the 'do nothing' stopped and I tackled several horrible jobs only one sucessfully so far so I bought another fairy for the garden. They last a while but the rain has done for the batteries I think and a solitary fairy doesn't look right
I just needed something silly at the end of the frustrating stuff.
Wet, windy and chilly. Here's my beans with their woolly socksThe shape of the canes was from the photos of Greencombe veg garden that I posted last year.Stands up to wind better, easy to water, shades the roots and easier to pick the crop as they hang outwards..........I hope. You can see how small it is but I get enough for 1 from it.Gooseberries, Lemon Verbena and Lemon balm behind. Apple in the corner. Raspberry canes on the right.Garlic chives edging and sage, margoram, oregano and mint up there.Tomato canes to the left, strawberries and chives to the right. digging up more lawn still in progress as you see!Cant put tall plants near the washing line makes rotating crops a challengeLittle cherry covered in netting so the birds don't get the poisoned black bugs.£5 apple tree behind that - with a few leaves. Think that will be a while.......I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Farway said:Enjoy Blenheim, one place I've never been in but often driven byNow I know what to sow for next year, who could resist the tom named Piglet willies French Black, I could mix & match with my Bloody ButcherWe went for the fashion thing, but now we have year passes, next time it'll be the gardens, hopefully I might last longer, probably because I'll be looking for things I can acquire
I have lots of seed but foolishly picked the ones without a year on them, obviously the reason it didn't have year on them was because I'd mixed them with the black truffle, but if you want some, say the word...
YBE, again with the snorting of the tea, that was funnypp also funny2p also funny . I like your bean support too, might give it a go this year..you lot are comedians!and the phone in the she? eccentricArb, these are a mix of runners on the left, climbing on the rightAnd the ones on the right, the french ones, you can see the seed on the stemDon't judge me for my ancient root trainers , they're at least 15 years old and they only get an outing once a yearNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi7 -
I've planted my courgettes - not as far apart as the rules say, so they'll have to get friendly. Broad beans that has been doing really well are suddenly looking a bit sad - must have been the heat and dry over the last few days and I've neglected them. I hope the watering I gave them this evening together with the rain due tomorrow will revive them and it isn't too late.4

Ooh, yes, thanks for the reminder, had forgotten about that, and will be caning my beans shortly (well, not that shortly - not sown yet, but fairly soon...), so might give it a go...
