Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Every time I look at the apps it's getting windier and windier so the bedding is on.
That's a bu99er about your builder Arb but it's only a small delay so you'll still have time to plant your beds
I hope the sad news wasn't anything unbearable pp. I hear you about the fleas, they're the devil's work really they are
I forgot the weather forecast earlier. I asked Cissie is it spring now is it? She said if you're still seeing snowbirds there's more winter to come. (Snowbirds are what granny called wagtails) Do with that what you will.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
It's true that the wagtails tend to show up, straight after the swallows depart. However, not seeing wagtails doesn't mean they're absent. Sometimes, people don't see what's only slightly out of their purview."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity3

Thanks, Dusty and YBE, it was one of those things that you know is going to happen, but it's still a shock when it does. Unfortunately I fear there's more to come in the not too distant future
I'm off work today and was going to spend some time in the garden. It's lovely and sunny again, but there's an icy cold wind. The Aurora Borealis was visible here last night, but unfortunately not to the naked eye. Of course my phone is useless so zero chance of seeing it. I've got concerts coming up this year where 'your phone is your ticket' so I'm going to have to get a new one. I need an all-singing, all-dancing one that captures the Northern Lights and takes lovely photos of plants.'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
Cold this morning, with another frosty start. And, Glory Be
, more rain due later this afternoon.
Today is magnolia pic day, the sun was out yesterday and I grabbed the opportunity. Not in my garden but near enough for me to enjoy it as if it was.I'll try for another once they open, if spared by winds & rain of courseEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7 -
Beautiful!
I must drive to the river valley where there is a glorious display - when the rain stops
Not too cold here but chilly overnight. The rain came late morning as predicted.
So I've been polishing brass and making raspberry jam from fruit in the freezer. Wow that tastes amazing! Puts supermarket raspberries in their place good and proper! Makes you want to grow more stuff year round. And understand why people used to preserve more.
Off to a fun table tennis later.
Seems we have a few dry days if the forecast is to be believed when I can get back to pruning trees.
That's disappointing Arbs, but everything for a reason. Yet to see what that isI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I couldn’t tell you a thing about phones pp except my one is an iPhone 11 and I’ll not be buying another one when it dies. Suspect user error has a large hand in that mind. I got it 2nd hand from Game or Cex or one of them and I’d recommend them. I’d also recommend waiting for the pale skinned, tattooed member of staff with plenty of facial furniture - ime they’re the nerds (not an insult) who know what they’re talking about better than the pretty boys. (No offence meant to nerds or pretty boys etc, ymmv!)
Thats a belting magnolia Farway, I hope it has the fragrance to match. Are you for sharing that jam 2p? 👏🏻😊The sun’s gone in here and it’s cooled right off.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Not sharing the jam Bluey. Those fruits were hard won last year with the rust an awl.
I put them in the freezer with sugar as someone told me they turned into freezer jam. All I can say is don't believe everything people tell you.
So I boiled it up. Half a jar only. Was quicker having been in the freezer though.
Bitterly cold, bitterly cold rain and dense mist.
I'll be sunbathing tomorrow according to the drunkards
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

The Aurora Borealis was visible here last night.....Regarding things you know will happen, I had similar thoughts...10 years ago!Apparently the Northern Lights were visible here last night, but we all missed them. I'm not sure when the sighting was; I was asleep earlier than normal. As predicted, it bucketed down for most of the useful day here. I managed to reach civilisation as the first drops fell, and after a couple of hours shopping the roads were like rivers.I'm no fan of the ridiculously large hybrid 4x4s they're producing now in the name of Eco, but my normal one (44mpg) comes into its own on days like this. Perhaps soon, pothole swerving will become part of the driving test.
That's a bright Magnolia, Farway, just waiting to do its thing.I walked into our wee woodland tonight and discovered that it isn't just in the warmer town that the hawthorn is leafing-up. Ours is too.....and I missed it!

Hugs PP.
YBE hope your washing dried was sunny and windy here when I left work.
Farway that’s a whopper of a magnolia ,fingers crossed for the buds.
Hope the builders show up all round, trades are awfully hard to come by.
Well I’ve been awake since 6.30 and of course I’m not working , so I’ve had a brew checked the weather and I’m off to put my uniform in the washer. Can’t see any rain on Ventusky.🤞🏻 I am off for a few days but have stuff to do, funeral, theatre, lunch for friends birthday. Then Mother’s Day at the weekend so dd will call down. I may go in the garden today , but that will tempt me to chop things and I don’t trust the frost as it’s been here every morning lately.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -
Yep got 2 loads dried wort, it was a grand drying day
Good job I cracked on with it cos it's raining out there now and has been for hours and won't stop 'til lunchtime!
Some amazing pics of the Northern Lights on the news last night, evidently a lot of the country saw them. The videos were beautiful
Not warm out there, phone says 5' but it sure feels lower than that. Once this rain's finished we've a few dry days to come, possibly.
Oh and I watched that 2 juries prog. No spoilers but if anyone's thinking of watching it on catchup I'd not bother. It was too full of heart rendering backstories etc for my liking. It's a shame cos they had a great idea for a unique programme and then ruined it with emotional nonsense and carefully picked people. It's a shame but I'd have to say it wasn't worth the watch.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4
