Torrential rain again. Repeatedly woken by the force of it so I'm exhausted. No gardening for me
A little dunnock was searching the ground for seed. I'd taken the bird feeder down to empty and wash because the seed had gone mouldy and full of mites because of all the wet - but I can't get it dry agsin.
Looks like a trip to the county town where the forcast says no rain just for a break.
Feel so sorry for all the moorland animals. Summer with no water then torrential rain for weeks.
It's certainly giving that path stuff a good testing.
No red sky this morning - but then you wouldn't see it for dense cloud.
A multitude of daily rainbows though.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

A multitude of daily rainbows though. Not a patch on poppy's DD's Steve, though!Looks OK-ish later; in fact, a re-run of yesterday. Not a day for long perambulations, but a wander around to check the sheep should be possible. And no one can make us cut the grass!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Oh, loving the sky stuff, and envious. I was wondering if DGD had seen the Aurora now she is near Aberdeen, plenty of thine for that I expect. All I get is moon, very bright last night but too cold to go outside for itBright sun at the moment but due to get worse, I never managed to prune the buddleia, came over cloudy by the time I was readyWhat I did find was my poor old Passion Flower is more stalk than leaf now, despite slug pellets. The pellets have vanished as well, can't see squirrels eating them thoughEven though the PF was bought in error and only cost a couple of pounds, I would like it to survive if possible. The clematis & Honeysuckle are still going strong, slugs probably full up with PF I expectThis is still in flower, don't know the variety because it was a gift, but I've moved it into the conservatory for winter, just in caseEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6

Different problem here but perhaps similar feeling.
The fence is going up at a rate of knots - but I'm really struggling having the builders and neighbours around so much. Every time I even step outside they stop and look at me (wondering if I want something) and my social anxiety/ASD means I'm inside with my curtains drawn waiting for them to be done/go away. I'm just feeling worn down by it and I know it'll be lovely when it's all done.
This too will pass... and hopefully they'll be some nice (and quiet) days for us all soonI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.7 -
I really like that pic, Dusty, I love how the bad weather is cocooned in the middle of the main rainbow, iykwim.
I need to make more of my half coconut bird feeders, twopenny, the last one is almost finished, with the coal twits pecking away at the last little bits.
Lovely Fuchsia pic, Farway.
I know exactly how you feel with the builders and neighbours, AR, I tend to hide away whenever we have anyone in doing work.
Another calm day here, a fair bit of cloud and a bit chilly, I'm already looking forward to lighting the fire tonight.'A watched potato will never chit'...4 -

Oooh, wish I had a fire to light, somehow my red plastic coal is not the same

Oooh, wish I had a fire to light, somehow my red plastic coal is not the sameWhen I worked for a living, I'd come in around 17.30 and light our gas coal fire. It took all of 10 seconds. The fire never needed cleaning out, apart from once a year, when we'd take out the glass, wipe it, rearrange the stone coals and put the glass back. It gave a good impression of a real fire. A lot of people did a double take.
I've done the daily clean-up on our wood burner tonight. To be fair, it takes 5 minutes, plus another 10 collecting the logs and pushing them up from the barn in a barrow, but it can be a faff after a busy day. There again, I'm not the one who usually does the dusting!
I think I've said, we're bound to create a lot of firewood this winter as we thin-out the mini wood. Ten years from planting, and already one Italian Alder looks almost too much for me to handle!pink_poppy said:I really like that pic, Dusty, I love how the bad weather is cocooned in the middle of the main rainbow, iykwim."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." It's Bluey's Shawshank rules here with those guys. Vine weevil treatment in the polytunnel pots, but nothing if in the ground. Mostcarry on flowering till December, these days, though I remember before global boiling, when we packed them in slightly damp peat and put the box in the shed. We probably lost more that way than doing nothing! They'd all start into growth too soon.

I understand the social anxiety thing. Lockdowns made it worse.
I'm still recovering from the bathroom creation where the guys were in my bedroom for the en suite and almost everywhere else.
Been to the county town with no rain. Just great.
Garden still sodden here.
I resisted the temptation of photographing a plant in the park and ride with the idea I was becoming obsessed
A viburnum or dogwood with purple leaves and stems with cream flowers that turned to white berries. Seems like good value.
And tomorrow, more rainI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
