Farway said:SK, careful of your back, take care, wish I had listened to this advice when I was younger & lugging bags of this that & the other around. Good work on the handy crafts, most can do it, but some just don't want to.My DIL is one of those not wanting to know, but she is having to learn now because part of her job is now teaching Design Tech, we males all laughed like drains of course when she fell for the Left Handed Screwdriver requirement.
My boy is training to be an electrician and after the initial bit of ribbing from some of the older boys - hes now in on the jokes.
He told the new lad at work the other day to pass him spare bubbles for the spirit level and that if he couldn't ask them to ask the foreman.
Poor kid. He'll learn.
Anyway
Ive been next door today and taken apart their old pallet bar, boy child helped me hoike them over the fence so they are ready to put together tomorrow but apart from that I havent done any other work in the garden today.
Did receive a phone call from the doctor earlier to tell them I have early diabetes so that was a kick in the teeth and knocked me a bit but onwards, upwards and now waiting for my appointment on the 13th to see the nurse.
Spoke nicely to husband who's mate works in Travis P and who can get me discount on top soil so I will see how much that comes back as and may get that later this month.
If the weather is nice tomorrow I am going to line the big veg bed I made, and possibly put the other ones together to make another bed, or make some planters for blueberries and flowers.
Hopefully I can move some old hedge clippings etc into the bed as well to start filling it and I might trim the front hedge too - weather permitting!

Gawd SK, you make me feel idle!Colin update - he’s fine now the abscess has popped, but it’s left a big hole in his skin. He is therefore now known as The Holey Terror.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3

Dull & grey day, but no gardening because I have clerical work to get on with, form filling which hopefully will result in dosh before the end of tax year so not to be neglectedSK, best of luck to your son and his electrician training, I did mine decades ago, but some things don't change, and some do, someone invented transistors & microchips when I was not looking which meant my hard sweated thermionic valve knowledge is useless. But, he will know, resistor colour code still in use I bet, as is the rhyme to remember it, maybe more PC substitute words used these days I expectGood news about popped abscess Colin, may be a nuisance but don't want him in painGood news also about the volunteer space oak tree, planning permission refused for neighbour to fell them, squirrels are beaming from ear to earHopefully sunny tomorrow so could be grafting apple dayEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

Gone drear and chilly today. So I'm having another go at drawing up a design for the non existant bathroom and looking for fittings.Funny, I was so keen earlier on and laid everything out ready - but now I'm on diversion tactics................Happy to hear about Colin. I used to have a cat that was always getting abcesses from fights. Yuck!Sam, when you've finished yours are you going to gloat

Ill probably too tired to do anything in the garden other than sit in the sunshine with my dogs.
I got diagnosed yesterday with early diabetes so I really should slow down until I see the diabetes nurse on the 13th but with the weather being dry I have still been outside and gotten stuff done today.
I moved a pallet and used an old arch I had to make a semi circular veg bed. Ill plant in the pallet too with herbs or companion plants or something.
Daughter 12 also came out to lend a hand and moved some of the gravel to lay a slab, then she has stood bricks on it and another slab on top - I thought she was building some kind of bug hotel - turns out she built it as a platform for the incinerator bin so we can make smores come the nicer weather.
Also recip saw battery ran out and be chuffed if I can find the charger for it. So work today has stopped because I cant do anything.
Although just been told Tesco have fruit trees in so now Im trying to look them up online. (£7 each of 2 for £12 with clubcard incase anyone is interested)

Beautiful sunny morning here, not overly warm tho. And such high pressure too!
I'm enjoying the Beechgrove progs, interesting and useful
The Holey Roamin' Terror is being allowed out tomorrow says lovely neighbour, she can barely contain him now. Dog is very tenderly keeping the holes clean apparently
Hope the Banished Devonian is getting on alright.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.0 -
Sun arrived, with a frosty start. Will I get out there later for apple grafting? No point if I have frozen fingers, I'll wait until this afternoon & judge it thenStop all this talk about fruit trees being available! Stop it right now, I just don't have room for any moreMy Cape Primrose leaf cuttings a definitely on the move now and not imagining new leaves starting.Which is good & bad news, means I'm going to need loads more space once I pot them on sometime next month but hopefully my conservatory will have warmed up enough to allow them in thereEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
