Ybe, those photos are hillarious! Thanks for the laugh.
Farway, so pleased you're getting a break. Long may it last....
I'm soo excited. My round pot I waterproofed and cut a bung as a start to a pond - then ground too hard, too wet etc till I was fed up with it - has a young frog in the rainwater!
I was tying back tomatoes and cleaning the fairies when it popped up and down again.
It's motivated me....trouble is now I have to wait for the frog to vacate
Life's never simple.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

YoungBlueEyes said:And what a bladdy cheek using the previous photos! I’d not be impressed with that 🤨The previous owners moved far away so they probably won't know. They were into alternative stuff like crystal healing etc and quite reclusive, though we got on well enough. I walked down the field to check tonight and the "Slow Down!" signs have vanished, so everyone must have learned to drive nicely now.
Top Tip: If you've an aversion to big tractors, buses, lorries and other traffic, don't buy a property at a pinch point 2' from the edge of the road.
It's nearly a full moon tonight and Jupiter's shining brightly in the clear sky, but we're not going below about 7c, thank goodness. Thanks for the evaluation of Mountain Magic, Farway. I won't miss it. I still rate 'Sungold' as my favourite with 'Floridity' in second place. The two I'm growing 'wild' in the remains of the old polytunnel are still very healthy, but prone to splitting.Love the squirrels YBE....so long as they're in your garden! We don't see them in the garden here, because two furry sentinels keep guard and their usual habitat is across an open field.3 -
Aye they're comical little gits! I don't know if it's a husband and wife or 2 young'uns or what. The one in the photos always tries to dismantle the gig before giving up and throwing food down to the other one, who stays on the ground.
They live in next door's trees. I'm getting quite fond of them actually
Speaking of furry sentinels, the previous owners of this house had a cat but they never took it with them when they moved. (Not the very nicest of people apparently.) I'm not a cat person but who leaves their animal? Any animal, for that matter? Anyway he's called Colin and he sleeps on my neighbour's conservatory roof so he can watch my back door and try and bolt in when I open up in the morning. I'll see about getting a photo when it's lighter out.
I'm determined to be a patient person and leave my garden til I see what it's about, but now I want a pond! Full moon and Jupiter here too, very starry and peaceful.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.1 -
Well the frogs gone and its full of mosquito larvae!
I'm having second thoughts.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Mosquito larvae? I don’t fancy that much 😣I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3

, having said I grew MM I went looking for the packet, and found it, Unopened
, it was obviously in my sow this pile but at the critical moment I must have chosen another variety, so I'll try it next year, along with an orange one also in the pile. Of course if it's rare I may auction my packet on a well known site
Good news on pond 2P, mosies are usually the first in, but if you get lucky with the frogs they'll eat them and the larvae. My pond is a mess, just a small shallow swamp now with a leak, I expected to see hippos wallowing but even the local cats no longer visit it for a drink. Unfortunately, given my lack of balance, bend & puff it'll have to remain as a poisoned watering mud bath with duckweed fringesSunny day today, I may try for a photo of my coleus as I noticed just how vibrant the colours have become recentlyNext door's building work continues, the garden has now had topsoil added, so not a patio, probably just grass, or a green carpetHere is a picture of one of "our" squirrels feeding in next door last year, with their antics I can forgive them for easting my crocus
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5 -
Lovely pics of the squirrels and Colin, YBE 😃 'Your' squirrel too, Farway 😉
We have loads of squirrel action in our trees/garden...our two dogs are way too lazy and ineffectual to scare them off!
It's amusing that the new owners of the thatch are upping sticks and selling after such a short time, Woolsery - and that their signage has all disappeared 😂 It'll be interesting to see if they succeed in achieving their inflated asking price 🙄 Hopefully the next people will be better suited to country living!
It's a sunny but chilly day today with tomorrow due to be similar. I'm going to be needed on the labouring front so probably won't be able to take advantage by getting anything meaningful done in the garden - just a few tidying jobs possibly. The mini orchard needs a strim but it's still a bit damp underfoot for that.....
Bit of a rubbish pic from me today as there's not much to photograph right now!
Euonymus Red Cascade (actually still awaiting planting)....3 -
Aw... Colin looks somewhat forlorn!
Some cats do love their known environment more than their owners though and the prime example would be my DD1's Bengal, which made it back to their old house after 3 months wandering in Birmingham. She hasn't repeated the experience, however, and she's much more friendly since. Experience is a great teacher!
The only Colin regularly featuring in our house is this one:Lovely blue skies here so we are polytunnel building again today. Hope to be ready to get the plastic on in a couple of weeks, when there will probably be gales and freezing temperatures.....Ah well, we've been wasting our time anyway according to a local resident, who says our planning won't get permission, not that we've submitted anything yet....

Local residents are the fount of all knowledge, best save your money and cancel them plans ha haa!Colin is not forlorn, Colin is a calculating heathen who waits for the most inopportune moments to fling himself bodily into my back door (or into me if I’m in the way of it).My neighbour Sue (whose roof he sleeps on) thinks he’s just marvellous, thankfully.3months wandering… aren’t animals wondrous.Think I need a red cascade too now, thanks LL 😁I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3
