Awful weather - typical Brits talk

PS weather update to be more OT - wet and miserable today and supposed to remain so all day, past few days have had lots of sun with a few brief showers, contra forecasts (heard one distant thunder rumble one day and giant black clouds but little pptn), mostly cool, and at times too breezy for comfort (of poorly-staked broad beans, etc😕)…

Grey, misty, mizzle here this morning, but at least the wind has dropped. I see it's supposed to kick-off again later, though! 🙄 It may be another shopping day with a visit to walking pal, to plan another garden trip. I'd rather be planning a hike, but needs must while the old legs remain dodgy. In the last couple of days I've managed 3 hours at a stretch without conking, so maybe the exercises are paying-off. 😏
On Monday's garden outing, Mrs D and I had tea and cake halfway around, which helped, and there were many sitooteries too. Here's one:
This is in the walled garden by the greenhouse and a very sunny spot. The other one I photographed is X-rated, as it included both LIAMS, and Erigerwhatsit! 😬 I think Farway may put a D notice on it.
Instead, here's Mrs Kendall Clark; a lovely, exuberant lady, but rather top heavy when exposed, and then liable to fall over! 🤪 Who did you say? Yes, I guess Bette Midler would have been a good name too. 😆

Just started raining, and supposed to get worse before it improves, if it ever does.
Dusty I kept a couple of large nasturtiums in the polytunnel over winter to pop their leaves into salads. Not having tried that before, I didn't know if they'd romp away again this year.Anyway, I chopped them back. They did regrow a bit, but mostly focused on flowering, before becoming spindly and buying one way tickets to Norway. They're all but dead now, but they've left lots of seeds.
Mine leave seeds, which then germinate, rinse & repeat, forever. However, they are trailing / climbing ones, and I really need static bush type ones for the troughs/tubs I have in mind. Doesn't have to be nasturtiums; any easy, soon-to-flower plants will do. It was just MD mentioned nasturtiums, and I know they love my conditions.
No doubt a few quid and Morries can supply something to suit, if alive. Even fuchsia, though I know the vine weevils will scoff them, so they will be a one-shot device only.
Good one for the gnashers MOT pass, that's two of us older ones with passes, your gnashers & my eyes. Just needs the other bits fixing & all will be well 😁
I was hoping to get out and check on my cherries under the bird mesh, but with the rain, that's a No. Probably all been eaten by slugs anyway
Just refreshed, Dusty The other one I photographed is X-rated, as it included both LIAMS, and Erigerwhatsit! 😬 I think
Farwaymay put a D notice on it. Our caring, ever resourceful masters are watching, and have announced OFCOM will be forbidding "Legal but harmful" content. You can expect a knock on your door in the night and a spell of re education on blind eye turning and deaf ear copping. The broad beans are a complete fail, the YBE curse from afar did turn them in Lessbeans 😂, not one pod, despite being covered in flowers at the time. Better news, my runners have baby flower buds forming in their
armpitsleaf axils. And a final flourish, a harvest of Minky Tots for dinner. Initial sown on damp paper in March. There are more to be picked, this rain suits them https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/112457/pisum-sativum-oregon-sugar-pod/details

I know. AI will soon be able to predict behaviour so accurately, we'll be cautioned and fined for pre-crime thoughts. Even God lets us have those, and only tots up the bill later on! 😪
My mangy toots in the polytunnel are coming to an end. Their replacements failed to thrive, so there will be a hungry gap now until the next batch, just coming through, are growing-up, outdoors. Never mind, plenty of chard and kale. 😉
Not much gardening today, I fear. We're on GS duty, hence the very early start. 😕
How's this for a tool shed? I don't think it's finished yet, but the owner was using it. The green oak frame still had the pegs uncut. All her squashes and courgettes were in and making more progress than mine. 🙄
That Monday visit looks far off now! Another day of windy mizzle……

Morning all, I made soup in the slow cooker overnight so you can all thank me when the temperature shoots up later😂

Dull and looks like it will tip down any minute. Everywhere is dripping wet so I guess it rained overnight anyway
I'm on salad, so my fault for the cold & wet 😁
Not much sign of flower progress on the toms in the conservatory. Some have buds, but it seems no change from a week or so back. All look healthy, just slow to flower, or just me being impatient
Was hoping to check my cherries, but too wet, so no gardening again, back to Clarkson's Farm
Message out of the blue yesterday, from Horticultural DGD, she is now studying tropical eco stuff at La Selva biological research station, Costa Rica, as part of her degree. Makes a change from Cheltenham. I think it's just a short time there, they have to pay for it so it certainly runs up the Student Debt
Here's a pic she sent, as a change from butterflies, puppies and mushrooms

And I'm in fleecy winter woolies so it's perking up out there. Sun shining but very wet. At least I haven't had to water any plants.
Need to get someone to help open side gate that slammed tight shut in the windscreen _ which are still blowing _ and may have a go at getting some more tomato plants in the ground with my long handled trowel and grabber. Not today though, brain fog seems to have kicked in again. Wonder if I was talking sense to my friend who came round to help yesterday?
No sign of my 2 nearly ripe cherries. Couldn't cover them because of the wind.
Love the sloth they always look so content. I'm deeply envious of her being there. Worth the extra debt. Memories like that are a lifetime treasure and worth every penny.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Been gardening! Stopped raining and sun out. Wind still with us.
With the aid of a trolley and crutches I deadheaded roses, used long handled trowel and popped 2 tomato plants in. Half a brick in the hole caused gritted teeth 😬
Of course I didn't think it through. What do I do with a basket full of debris? 🙄
And then time for tea but the wisteria had dropped over the bench - so use what is to hand 😄
Do you see what I did there?

Farway's Costa Rican sloth was a portent for our day with GS, who decided Friday's trip here was a good time for a chesty cough and a further tooth to come through….😯 Luckily, he was tired by it all, so a few hours were spent curled-up on Grandpa, who, sloth-like, enjoyed a couple of bonus naps he wasn't expecting! 😉
The mizzle persisted until late afternoon, when 2p's sunshine reached us, too late for a sit-out. 😒 What a fine use for an NHS crutch, 2p, and a grand wee shelter from those gusty westerlies! 😇
I see the high temperatures they promised us for the weekend have been revised downwards, which is fine for mowing. That'll be a priority after all the rain. 😕

Morning all. On this day in 1777 a 19 year old Marquis de Lafayette lands in America to help the patriots. So it's at least partially his fault.
Are we all in one piece still? You don't sound like you're resting 2p * tutting and head shaking * That's a cracking wee sitooterie though, your prop made me giggle and I love your table ☺️
I foretell your legs will be in great form again just in time for it to be too hot for long walkabouts Dusty. Has anyone seen a long range forecast? If there's a heatwave coming - that's when you'll be fit as a lop 😄 Oh and that tool shed would do me rightly! Lovely old wall too, you'd never get sick of looking at that would you.
OFCOM best not knock on our door if that's their new policy Farway. Legal but harmful? Pffft. You can't complain people are turning into over-sensitive fannies with that sort of carryon 🙄I'll have to remember to ask BBM his thoughts on that next week - I bet his response will deffo make up for the a-curse-d lezbeans 😆 So Superstar DGD is in Costa Rica - that's amazing, I love it. Like 2p says, never worry about the debt, that's worth more than money. A belter of a pic too, front page material for sure.
Are you enjoying my storms gb? It's given storms a few days this week but that day with the one clatter and 4 rumbles was the height of it. I think there was a few more rumbles last night but it could've been that ersehole next door putting his bin out after midnight.
Have you had any storms over your side wort? Hopefully you're at least drying out a bit. It needs to dry out in Lessland too so we can get some more cloud pics *nodding * Ooh and dog pics, there's a sore lack of dogs on this thread 🐕
You made soup mw? It's the weather for it, it's been properly Autumnal here this last week - hooray! 🤭
OT 13' currently, 7' WOC. The sobers reckon it'll start raining in 20 mins.. well I hardly think so, it doesn't smell a bit like rain to me. Happily they've revised the temps downwards for the next few days by at least 10'c. We don't need it in the 30's for chrissake, people that want all that much can go abroad.
Everything isn't about you.3
