Hope you get your limbs functional again 2p. Resting isn't always the best policy, but it is today with all the heat.😩
We waved goodbye to the elderly visitors around 14.00, cleared the dishes, and headed for the cool bedrooms on the north side of the bungalow to doze for a few hours. The children are at the beach with younger family members, so it's been bliss.😴 Hopefully, they'll be worn out too by now! 😉
Bluey: I thought your gc's table held fancy desserts too Dusty…. 😟 Was a good time had by all? Fine head of hair on the little lad eh, not unlike the rev…
The hair goes soon.😮 Remember, he's half Indian, so it will be shaved-off in the Hindu Mundan ceremony, to rid him of any accumulated spiritual contamination from past lives. But, it'll soon grow back again.😀 Our Indian relatives always have a good time at gatherings. Yesterday was mainly relaxed chatting and feasting, without loud music or dancing, because there was much social catching-up to do. Besides, neighbours were also enjoying their gardens. Most of our family are from urban areas, so they appreciate rural peace and quiet. For the Indian side, it's like 'back home' in Gujarat.
By heck, you see many hidden sides of life at the legal/emotional interface, Bluey! 😲 I think you deserve PTSD bonus money. Once people open up, they can sweep you along in a tsunami of their troubles, but just or not, you can't change the law for them. Difficult! 😕
It's still too hot to go out and water again……With 3 hotter days predicted, I'll have to re-think my routines. Weeding at 06.00 anyone? 🤥

Not so very hot here. Sat out to try and brown my legs before they are wrapped in support socks 🙄
I did something on Friday and been in pain even laying down so tried moving. It didn't help.
Have managed to water the front pots but couldn't use my trolley. I've managed to loose the key to the side gate 😬 . I also managed to loose the pot for one of my orchids when I watered it. How!!! Moved from one room to another.
I think the Borrowers have taken up home in my house.
That's a nice tradition with the hair Dusty. Do you think he'll cry? Children are funny like that.

There are specific exercises on YT for trapped nerves / sciatica which work for me, but we're forbidden from linking to info like that. 😉 I'd guess they might not be appropriate in your case, but nothing ventured etc
GS is a very cheerful child. He didn't cry once on Saturday, and nor did the two others under 2 years old. He was born with lots of hair so he'll miss it, but only for a short time. Children are less likely to cry if they trust the adults caring for them, just like our cats, which hate having ticks or burrs removed. They know we mean them no harm, so grit their teeth and put up with it! 😄
It's already hot out there, but the watering's done. ☺️ Today, I must collect all the party stuff from DD's and return it to the barn here. Meanwhile, eldest GC and his Mum are going to attempt a 12km paddleboard journey along a local river. As an ex-fisherman, I don't approve of that. However, the 28/29c today will do more harm to the prospect of catching fish than they will! 😄
Yesterday's photo was a lucky juxtaposition. This one's intentional. The leaves of the not much grown Diervilla 'Honeybee,' contrast with the purple of the allium.
Please excuse nettle photobomb.😮
Oh, and we have manky toots, at last, plus a second courgette.😀

Phew blooming🔥 hot here. Not a breeze in sight.
No intention of working outside even if I could.
Dusty this is a case of disintegrated bone on bone, inflamed bursa which gives pain from ankle to waist. Happily it's easing now but I won't be playing table tennis this afternoon. I realise I had felt so much better, even short walks on the moors with crutches that I forgot about rest between activities and was busy all day. Result, could do nothing. Silly woman!
Let it be a lesson, don't leave this stuff till it's so bad. 🙄
The birds are singing but not eating. Must put some more water out for them.
Love the colours. I've seen a few mixes that have worked but usually big stuff that I can't copy. Good to know you have nettles and you aren't perfect 😄

Watering completed by 0930, used the hose on the back garden, with wilting foxgloves [self sown in a pot]. The sun is burning already, best avoided IMO, unless under a pub garden umbrella.
I remember crying at my first haircut, perched on the board across the chair arms in the barbers. I was lucky because in those days kids were just as likely to "get something to cry for" as not. I got to play with the hair clippers, plus a bottle of 7 Up in the next door cafe, which was nice change from sitting outside a pub with crisps & glass of lemonade while Grandad supped a pint inside with his mates
Dusty Oh, and we have manky toots, at last, plus a second courgette.😀Booo, Hisss, Not even a flower on my mange toots, courgettes I am expecting a pregnancy soon, males are out but the female is still at equivalent of "doing her hair" 😁
Hope you get mobile 2P, seeing the plants keeling over and unable to do much
Much too much going on YBE, I always imagined solicitors offices to be quite & peaceful, with Rumpole eating digestives and drinking tea. Got me wondering if my DGD sees as much, she is trainee solicitor, last I heard it was wills & probate work.
YBE Your berries are coming on a treat Farway, will this be the year you taste boysenberries..? Yep, first year of tasting them. All seem to have set, setting like blackberries and not like plums. Looking forward to it, I've loads so maybe even a pot of jam?
All toms are now in final homes, well not quite, Bloody Butcher is still in kitchen, but he was a second thought.
Dahlias are mostly out, some not quite in final spot, I have to rustle the lilies into position before the dahlias can get in
On dahlias, anyone else noticed the new trend, dahlia pronounced Dah Lee R instead of Day Lee R? Probably due to Brexit or Orange man
Today is the pyracantha, suns suits it, bees loving it, and looking like a berry-full Autumn for the birds
Bottom right, purple clematis. middle is the pink rose climbing through & up, lower centre, spot the wayward thorn free blackberry. Bottom right are my hard red, useless, pear leaves

OOO, strawberries…I must get a bed for them…I suppose if the head shaving occurs in he summer, at least it'll be cooler…baby mohican anyone? 12km paddleboard? nuh uh, sounds very energetic…that's a very zingy combination too..
Shame about your recalcitrant bits 2p, it's no fun wanting to do stuff and your body says no. I shall put it in my list of things, the book that is. But you've done your three things now, so you should be ok, as far as mishaps go anyway..
ybe, while the stories are funny, very funny, it also sounds a bit dangerous to be working there..so yay to stories, boo to nefarious sorts..bindweed - have lots at the lotment, does it ever stop? ::sigh::
gb, well, at least you have the blow back to keep you cool while working! :)
Farway, don't worry, I haven't even got six leaves on my zucchine yet…boysenberries are making up for it! Yeah, had noticed the trend, there's a few others too, aga stash, not agas tacky…I don't think you have enough going on in that bit of garden too :)
Hot, did not cool down yesterday evening til about ten or eleven so I girded my lins and got the lotment at seven ish [there were people coming out as I was going in! ], put the borlotti, marina di chioggia and crook neck squash in the ground. There is a lot of weeding to do. Was stupid hot by nine so I came home and sweated gently in front of the fan. More tomorrow morning to get the sweetcorn out. I'll do the tomatoes in the greenhouse tonight…And I wouldn't say I've watered but I have thrown some liquid at a few things.

Afternoon all. Christ but it's hot here. It's either 29' or 30' with a FL of either 32' or 34' 😓That's excessive in any man's language.
Himself has been out sunbathing since 0900, the moron, and is a proper gambas already. He's not wise. Whereas I've been quietly shifting some of his
useless crapextraneous clothing and books and stuff into big bags and shoving them under the bed in the back bedroom then I'll deposit them outside charity shops doors on my way to work in the mornings 🤭Deffo Wet'n'Forget gb, that stuff's amazing. How's AnonyDog coping in the heat? Or is he laid out in it ha haa!
Interesting about the Indian hair cutting/head shaving Dusty, I've never heard of that before. I wonder why they think spiritual contamination only occurs in the hair though,,? /me quietly puts hand up to admit weeding at 6am. Watering is an evening thing though, I think the soil being wet at night helps any dew absorb into the soil too. Morning watering doesn't have long enough to absorb in before the sun comes up baking the place hard dry and evaporating all my carefully collected raindrops.
Gawd imagine losing your key 2p 😕 I can't remember now, did you get a new date for your op? Hopefully it's soon then you'll still have some good weather to recover in. Are you all ready for it? Stuff organised and minions on standby?
Farway I'll bet DGD has a few stories, even in they're 2nd hand from her solicitor. I haven't noticed anyone say dah-lee-ya but then I only watch BG and that's on mute with subtitles if that lang streak appears (which he did the other night - not worth the watch imo). People saying things funny always reminds of Nigella and her mee-crow-wah-vay 😄 Anybody else remember that? That's a happy pyracantha, mine doesn't look a bit like that. My one went all eggs-in-one-basket mode and produced one long thick spikey stalk that just grows back when I cut it *sigh * Boysenberry jam might be your fortune you know, you could hire a weekly yoof to do the garden with you 😎
Taff if it got genuinely dangerous I'd leave in a flash, cos then I'd have something proper to put as my reason for leaving. All I've got so far really is people are relentlessly stupid/entitled/angry and if I had to listen to one more person start a conversation with "sooo I read it on facefook that…." I'm in danger of throat-punching them. So I either have to find another job, or have a proper reason for leaving this one. Anyway, good to hear the lotment (love that) is going strong, are you still 'acquiring' shovelfuls of that woodchip pile..? 😈
A quick run round the boards to see if there's any fun to be had, whilst eating whatever it is they call a mivvi now ☺️
(I just D'Duck'd how to spell mivvi, and this site came up Could be an entertaining way to pass a hot afternoon.

Right, that's it, just remembered there is a half scoffed tub of Waitrose posh choc ice cream in the freezer, I'd better check it's not gone stale 😁

No time to get the Wet and Forget before I need to put stuff back (tonight), so am persevering with the pressure washer. I'm also not keen on the active ingredient.
Stinky is alternately cooking himself in the sunshine and cooling off in the house/wet bits of the patio (another reason for not using a chemical option). He's unimpressed by the lack of walk, but we did go out at 5.30am for an hour (it was pretty warm when we got back) so I did my weeding after that - and planted the courgettes which may have been an error. Hopefully they'll survive. Veg plot watering is all via buried soaker hose, but I do need to get it hooked up to the new pump and water butts rather than running it off the mains.
Mulching with cardboard and woodchip has resulted in nice damp soil to plant in underneath it, so the new beds I planted up on Friday night/Saturday seem to be doing OK. I have more beds to make, so will need to give them a good soak with the hose before putting the cardboard and woodchip down.
31C out there - feels like 35C, so really need to NOT feel I should be barrowing more grass clippings onto the bit of the veg plot I'm going to plant squash in at some point.
Squash need potting on and putting on the outside potting bench. Gravel trays and pots need prepping for tomatoes and cucumbers. And I think I'll put toms and cucs in between the strawberries, as the strawberry bed is looking very sorry for it having been completely excavated during the last dry spell - most of the replanted plants have survived, but I won't be having a bumper crop this year!

Morning all.
Looking at the weather forecasts it’s to be a slightly cooler day, so it should be easier for doing doings.
I couldn’t sleep last night at all so o got up and was weeding a couple of hours ago. That should give me …ooh… ‘til tomorrow before they reappear again 😏
I don’t know how The Oracle does it - she came across yesterday to ask did I want to go out for the afternoon? Her and a coach load were going up to Scarborough for an icecream and a sit on the beach 🤨 I politely declined without mentioning anything about wild horses, dragging, or gunpoint.
Please god let today be a gentle one. Folk get all panicky when it’s a bank hol and don’t understand that we don’t work them (what with us being closed an’ all) so there’s no work done. Very difficult concept, evidently.
OT 19’ currently, FL 22, with a high of 26 to come. But the wind’s to turn round tonight and a lovely northerly will sweep through the place and take that heat with it 👏🏻6
