Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Farway: There are self-sown tom seeds popping up in a tough at the front, just as experiment I'll nurture a couple. Could be they will become super duper. Have to think of a name, given where they are, maybe Canine Drops? Farway Floofhound?
Crufts Original?
ShiTsu Special?
Cockerpoo Cherry?
Pomeranian Pomodoro?
😁
Rain due to ease here soon. I've been ferrying 'old folk' to the surgery this morning, so no outdoor gardening time lost so far. 😉

Not sure what the weather was today. Some grey, some rain, a bit of blue.
Immaterial though because I was having yet another medical with a 50mile round trip. I could do with you around here Dusty. New date 1st June. Don't expect any sense from me around then. Strictly no gardening - maybe 😉
Picked up an invalid trolley for use in the garden. It's brilliant for getting all 3 recycling boxes down the slope at one time 😄 I also moved a half paving slab . Much better than a wheel barrow. I'll have to get a photo of these shenanigans for your delight.
Farway did you ever make rosehip syrup from the hips? My grandmother taught me and it's delicious. Vit c supposedly.
I have noticed that the wildflowers have liked the weather. Loads of buttercups across the fields.

A very quick, wholly On Topic go.
Anyone wondering when the heat that hasn’t got here yet is gonna break, it’s next Saturday -Possibly.
ETA but it doesn’t say -0 so I think we’ll be alright 😄6 -
We're waiting the arrival of the sunshine here with interest, Bluey. I took some photos yesterday afternoon, but the light levels were so bad, I've binned nearly all! 😥 Nothing so jolly as 2p's buttercup field. 😊
Here's the best:
These are our potential plums, mostly full of plumptiousness, but some won't make it.
Also a nice wee Dianthus called 'Passion,' Mrs Dusty picked up at the GC. Do you think there's a message there? 🤔

Dull but mild, like Dusty I'm awaiting the heat wave.
In anticipation I'm hoping to get my courgettes into final home today, I was leaving it but weather is set fair until next week at least, so I'm going for it
2P Farway did you ever make rosehip syrup from the hips? My grandmother taught me and it's delicious. Vit c supposedly. No, I did look into doing it but it seemed far too much faffing for me to bother with. I've ventured into dandelion wine, elderflower champagne, and elderberry wine, funny that, no medicinal stuff at all, 😉
Love the buttercup field.
As mentioned, today I hope to get some toms out as well, and plant up more toms in the conservatory. However my back is twinging from yesterdays compost lugging, so I may not get very far before I have to stop
What's an invalid trolley 2P?, waiting for the pic now, is it one of those four wheeled things? Very handy if so. Unfortunately no use here, steps to climb, but my sack truck is handy for compost and heavy items
Nice plums Dusty, hope they carry on, how about plum moth? Do you suffer or have a magic potion? Now I have to get photos of mine later, not as many as you but seeing as my tree was "dead" it's all a plus
Hope the dianthus succeeds, does is have a nice scent? Are these what were Carnations / Pinks? I always remember the clove scents. My one and only was scoffed by vine weevils, so I've never bothered since.
I may have said before, but some ancestors were into carnation growing, and supposedly bred & named one, but I've not come across it despite extensive searching. Perry's White BTW, there is a Poppy with that name, and grower was in Enfield, which is quite close. But no connection I've found. I have tried growing the poppy and failed, so even that tenuous link is a no go 😭
Way back, pre war, carnation growing was a major industry where I lived, acres of glass houses, which is where the ancestors came in
Even made Pathe news, but none of my ancestors on it https://www.britishpathe.com/asset/80542/
It isn't ,but the bloke in cloth cap spraying the plants could be my great grandad doing that

Phewwwww! It was hot this morning. So it's true.
Whole fields of buttercups, wall to wall sunshine colour. All along the road side too. Definitely a good year for buttercups
Dusty, so that's what healthy plums look like 🤔
Hope you get your heatwave Bluey.
Still caught up in trying to organising stuff, not really getting far. The town is already busy and the next week will be packed from the wilds to the towns.
I did get to practice with the trolley. I took the washing out and it's great for not carrying and easy to get everything out in one go. However do not take a large heavy item out of the basket first! It all goes on the ground 🙄 it does help by not putting strain on the bits that have problems.
Stopping and thinking is not my strong point 😄
Good thing I practiced before loading it up with pots! More adventures to follow.
Tomorrow, certainly the weekend, a lot of remedial work on the garden.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Heat arrived here too at last, halfway thru the day, annoyingly humid too, and had not sufficiently cast clouts, despite blooming (at last) of clout-casting indicators in the garden, so was rather warm planting out courgettes and some more exotic summer squashes, and (in for a penny etc) winter squashes too.
Hope they grow as fast as everything else (grass and weeds in particular 😣) seem to have done in the past few days…
Intrigued by what looks like a warning/danger sign under your plums (and Dianthus) Dusty

Ha! Reading my mind Less 🙂
I was about to mention some lovely cirrus clouds of various types this evening. Yes, I do know some 😉
Exotic squashes eh? Looking forward to photos of them. I don't have room.

I get that whenever I post pictures. It's some sort of glitch in the MSE matrix. Usually, I then go to Edit, when some nonsense message comes up. I delete that and it goes away. Yesterday I couldn't be Rsed! 😆
Farway: Nice plums Dusty, hope they carry on, how about plum moth?
There's a plum moth? 😲 Something else to worry about! 😥 We get enough plums, though, so not bothered that much. Maybe the chickens are a good defence?
As regards the new dianthus, it does have good scent and it's compact. I thought we might not succeed with pinks here, but they seem to do OK. ☺️
Good trolley thing 2p but why do they always make the wheels so small? Don't they know we pensioners go off-road? 😉
I see management's been burgering with the interface again….or have I only just noticed? 🤒
We have more family arriving today, and they're camping, so that means the lower area of grass (notice I didn't say 'lawn') will be the football pitch. Sadly, “no mow May's” long grass will have to go. 😪 I wish I'd known sooner.
Here's something that's not cystitis for Bluey. It's a bit 'in yer face' but the bees don't care.😛

Warming up already, but I cracked on and have already watered all the pots at the front while they are in shade, just in case I never get a chance over the weekend & they boil dry
Less so was rather warm planting out courgettes Snap! At last got my two in yesterday. Surprised just how dry the compost was in one of the pots, despite all the rain it was dry a few inches down. Another reason to get watering this morning
Dusty I see management's been burgering with the interface again….or have I only just noticed? 🤒No, I think it's new today, new as in go back to previous version.
I like the not cystitis colour, would brighten a dull spot
Most of my toms are now in final positions, did that yesterday afternoon. I have some stragglers left over, waiting for space to appear once I clear away old daff leaves, which should be this weekend but trying to learn to stop when back says so, I overdid it yesterday and regretted it later
The trolley looks ideal 2P, at least you can now get around a do "stuff" I suppose it's down to judgement avoiding it getting top heavy and tipping over. Once we move into Rottery Acres there will be a bank of electric chariots for the less nimble to trundle around the estate
The tomato planting had an unexpected spin off, my long lost trowel came back from it's holidays 😊, a tad rusty but that will soon wear off once it returns to work. It's forking brother is still MIA 😠
Once I finish on here I hope to get my cafe au Lait dahlias potted up at the front, before sun gets there & bakes me, and find space for the ecclesiastical pair, Oxford & Canterbury
Then it's plum inspection, the dead plum is now making rapid growth skywards, now I will have to prune it instead of digging it out. Actually I may "festoon" it, which I've done on some apples and seems to work for me.
