2p said .. Love the plant but so do the slugs, …oh dear they like most of the stuff I plant 🫣 I forgot to add some blue sweeties to the pots and the dianthus buds have been chomped .
YBE it was a bit of both, I had to hold onto BIL ,and it was definitely coat on with hood up weather.
I braved the wind in the afternoon yesterday, I locked myself in the garage to stop the door blowing open and closed, and potted a few of the Gaura seeds, it said if I get them going inside they should flower this year, if direct sow it will be next year. So I’m doing both !!
I then decided to do the severe haircut on the forsythia. So it’s now under 2 foot tall . Gave a bit of feed to pots. Also one pot was needing to be repotted a couple of rogue items had self seeded that would end up being too big.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -

Morning all. The Italian Renaissance master Raphael was born on this day on 1483 :)
Aww look at your fluffity robin Farway ☺️ I know they're only common but they make my heart smile. Size of your tom too, I'm feeling a bit behind now…
Sounds like you're cracking on rightly 2p. Will you be all done by your op..? I wonder what your unusual bird was. Hopefully it'll come back today and Merlin will get it 🤞
So long as you've a mix of boys and girls that's all that matters Dusty eh. 2 new ones is exciting though - do you think they communicate with each other or did they just randomly find you on their nightly travels?
Fingers firmly crossed your Gaura flower this year wort. I'd have done a bit of both too 😄
I'll have to check on the Forsythia Saga today. I did see a few flowers on it the other morning as I was walking to work. I had a look in but there's no birds nests in it now, the council thugs have
expertly trimmedviolently hacked a bit too much off. They don't care do they. Shipbags.OT sunny and nice out there this morning, 5'c my phone says. There must have been a drop last night cos there's a touch of frost on the grass in the shade.
Oh and Cissie made me laugh last night. I rang her and she said she was for having an early night cos she was tired. I tentatively asked what she'd been up to that she was tired. She said she was up in the night cos she thought she heard wee lambs in distress, so she stood at her front door 'til she found them (she lives between 2 farms). She put on her big coat and her wellies, lifted some twine and off she went. Rescued 2 lambs and took them home. Well did you at least take a torch so you could see where you were going Cissie? Sure what would I carry a torch for, folk can see you for miles if you carry a torch. She said if it happens again she's keeping them. God love her ❤️

Sunny day arrived, and supposed to be warming up for the next couple of days, which is good, 'cos it's my birthday on Wednesday, not that I have anything planned, just be nice for sunshine and warmth

That is Bajaja, I took a chance by sowing early, 7 Feb, started in the airing cupboard then bathroom window sill, and this year I never knocked the lot flying 😁. FWIW, and no clue if it helps or not, I have been watering using the very weak fertiliser mix I saw on Y Tube. Must say the toms look healthy but without a trial control hard to tell. Certainly not doing them any harm at least
Nice one to Cissie, lamb rescue. I rescued a bit of ones leg from Morrison's last week 😈
Fantastic sky Wort
Dusty said I don't think I'm fully in the T&M club, Farway. They just have one of the email addresses I use for nonsense, hence the daily advert for something or other. When it's seeds, I take notice.
That's me as well, but lately my offers seem to have dried up compared to those you post. No doubt some algorithm at work. I keep getting various ads about compost, probably sent by mad cookies. Even had a YT post about poor compost turn up yesterday, any one seen my tin foil hat?
If sun holds I want to get out and clear a couple of plastic troughs at the front, they had mixed annuals in last year but now full of dead stuff & weeds.
Spotted geranium Rozanne emerging in Dog Poo border, welcome back 😍
The bluebells that were fertilised with dog eggs have survived and growing well, just about to flower. maybe that's the secret manure?
Have to post another view of my robin helper, you can see how Bajaja has done, two months from sowing, now in my unheated conservatory for final stages

Norra lorra time this morning.😕 It's lovely and sunny here, but still with a keen wind. 🤔 Calm overnight though, hence a grass frost. I'm glad I pulled the tender things in from the poly! 😅
Seeing your Bajajas, Farway, I took a photo of 3 wee Jimmy Improved, with a Sungold alongside for comparison. I'm not organised enough to know when they were sown, other than it was February. Our conservatory gets lost heat from the living room and there's also a stuck radiator valve this year. (Don't tell the Eco police! 😬) so things have been favourable for these guys.
Tomatoes by June, guaranteed! ☺️
Jimmy Improved: I paid about 90p for mine! 😁

Lovely sunrise wort. It was yellowish and weedy-looking here. So was I at 07.00 !!
EDIT: Oh, and I got the YT carp compost video too! 😂

Wort I envy your lovely sunrise. We haven't had much at either end of the day.
Bluey Cissie is a breath of fresh air. Puts the world back on an even keel 🙂
Farway a robin maks a good pet. Doesn't need walking, doesn't take over your chair and cheep in food. 😉
Dusty my tomatoes seem fine and sturdy outside. It registered 24c in the sun out there today and the enclosed garden stays a bit above average. 🤞
Had a friend over for lunch and she stayed. Lovely though it was I haven't got much done but all the pots needed watering as dry right through. Managed to spray the house wall with jeyes to try and deter ants when more vicious things have failed.
Much tireder entertaining than gardening 🥱
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Yesterday was very windy here, and we were unexpectedly busy. Our DD2 and GS were unwell with lurgy, picked up at nursery. So, as on Sunday, Mrs Dusty fetched GS, and we had him, all runny eyes and nose, through the day. Fine, but at tea time, the 3 hedgehogs we took to the H. Rescue were returning, so we had to get organised for them. 😯 They were placed in 3 hedgehog houses, about 10m from the nest where they were born, though I doubt they'll remember last autumn now!
At dusk Mrs Dusty took the barriers away from the hog house entrances, enabling the hogs to forage through the night, and the feeding station was set up too, so grub would be on hand. 😉
That's all we know so far. I'll be letting the hens out in a minute and collecting the card from the wildlife camera……😀

Morning all, on Back To Bladdy Work Day (I’m only having a quick go on my phone.)
Hopefully you got a good nights rest 2p. You’ll have to let us know if they Jeyes works re ants, I’m sure one day the colonies in my garden will spot my house and realise it’s easier here 😬 Cissie is my heart’s beat, yous’ll not see me for a month when she goes…
Tomatoes by June Dusty you swine! I’ll have to take a pic of mine so you can see the difference your stuck valve makes 😄
Farway your fluffity robin better make the front page or there’s no justice in this world. Do any of us even look at the front page..? 🧐
It was a bit cool here first thing but the sun’s properly up now so that frost will be gone in no time. 3’c currently and a high of 16’ to come, possibly.

V quick point+shoot. Toms + sweetpeas. The yogurt pots are two somethings we snaffled at Chatsworth, they were a sort of plum fandangle iirr. Can’t remember but they’re planted anyway, they’ll either grow or they won’t.

Nothing wrong with those toms, Bluey…..nice and sturdy, not drawn. But you have a radiator too! 😮 And your Swift is the colour I want, not that I'll ever have one, mind! 😪
Hedgehog update. Here are the houses before we took the barriers away….apologies for the photobombing sheep.🙄
(Why do I always have to post and then edit if I wish to continue once I've added a picture? Rubbish interface! 😛)
Our two home-made hog houses are either side of the one we bought. Once the barriers were removed, Mrs Dusty cleverly placed small sticks across the exits, so she would know if the camera failed to pick up a hog leaving. 😉
Well, I've examined the photos and, sad to say, none of the hogs left their houses. 😥Maisie, in the middle box, took a peep outside, but that was all. 😕 They're all well-fed and the 15 mile journey probably unsettled them, so they decided to stay put. We had visits from a couple of other hedgehogs in the night, but the feeding box has been re-orientated, and I don't think they entered it. Hopefully, things should settle down in a day or two.
We're predicted to have sunshine, 17c, and still 'enjoy' the brisk SE wind today. We'll also have GS back after he's seen the Dr. He's on the mend, but his Mum isn't. 😔
