Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Just popping in with a robin bum (it looks like its mooning haha) I didn’t realise I’d caught it the other day until I was looking at photos this morning…

Your robin photos are just gorgeous Poppy 🙂
I always think an unusual pose is interesting. When I was photographing the great egrets my favourite was the back side one. When I'm on the computer again I'll show you.
Farway I agree but thought it through. The main problem would be stacking the logs after delivery. Then there's the coming in after a day out. But my chances of getting one are slim.
Dusty, nice new area to play with. But I'm betting next spring it will all burst forth.
Still blowing a hoolie out there but the sun has finally broken through.
The temps gone up a bit to around a sultry 9c.
Washing winter stuff to dry in the wind. If it's all clean and debobbled the temperature should rise so I don't need it 😊
Happily swimming and table tennis today because can't garden or go out with the camera. Hopefully I can stay awake.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Just don't look at my mossy path, twopenny (to go with my mossy roof)
I still haven't got round to buying that wet & forget stuff...
YBE, hope posh friend is going to be okay - it's good of you to let her stay with you - it sounds like she probably needs a good friend.
Dusty, so glad to hear the hoglets are being well looked after.
I love the colour of the leaves on your Medlar, Less, so autumnal.
Farway, the photos issue on here is a pita. It's still hit and miss for me.
OT - gorgeous and sunny, or it was until I happened to glance out of the window a few minutes ago to see light fretty rain coming down, alongside the beautiful sunshine. I decided to get my washing in and I'm glad I did, because it started with heavier fretty rain, then proper rain... The BBC forecast still says 0% chance of rain until 4pm...'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
Up ridiculously early for my day off, but washer is on and hoping for a less wet day, it’s been cold windy and very wet for a few days. I need to walk into town for an appointment, then walk back for lunch before walking back to town with dgson for the hopefully his last dentist appointment in the big city, so train and 20 min walk to dentist then reverse to come straight back. So I’ll get my steps in today.
Farway, I was “watching” GW ,it sends me to sleep !! But did hear Monty waxing lyrical about quinces. Must admit I rather fancy 1 now even though I don’t do food stuff in the garden.
2 p thanks for the funny link , looked before work yesterday and it made me smile.
Dusty I love an open fire, but had 1 when I first married and it’s a pita to clean and maintain. Reminds me of being small and grandad used to make toast on the fire 😋 so yummy.
Not sure I will avoid rain today, but I’m hoping it will be windy enough to partly dry washing.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.7 -
Well done with the medlar and robin bums.
I can offer you medlars too, this morning...
They're dropping like...err....medlars, right now, so they're ripe enough, but far from 'bletted.' Although time's short, if I get a good haul, I'll see if friends nearby want them. They sometimes make medlar jelly. It's an acquired taste!
Let's see if the site will let me upload a second photo:Nope....so see you in the next post!

That worked!
In on-topic news, it was windy and mostly dry yesterday until late afternoon. The wind then dropped, temperatures rose, and it rained again. I didn't get much done, other than plant out lettuce, kale and chard, some in the polytunnel and some optimistically outdoors. I think the butterflies are no longer a threat!Today, it looks to be dry, but a birthday celebration will mean no gardening. Can't say much more now....

Mixed weather, dull sunshine sums it up, wind still blowing but not as strongly.
GW has same affect on mewort said:Farway, I was “watching” GW ,it sends me to sleep !! But did hear Monty waxing lyrical about quinces. Must admit I rather fancy 1 now even though I don’t do food stuff in the garden.
, I reckon only see about half of it, which must show how griping it is most of the timeI was tempted by Frances' rudbekias, I have tried them but mine always die.I may have another go next year, if I spot some in MorriesAnd, yes I was also tempted by Quinces but no I've room at allall this bird talk, I was just admiring them in my garden yesterday, very busy Blackie filling up with pyracantha berries, some blue tits, flitting in the blackberry for insects.Plus some other small brown bird that I've no idea what it is but not a wren, also among the fruit bushesNo photo, just was not expecting themAnd sun vanished, so no golden Autumn leaf pics eitherNo gardening planned, usual damp & cold + not much urgently needs doing, although plenty I could do if I CBAPhoto fail again

But my chances of getting one are slim'.Modern wood burners aren't very messy and light easily. Those up on stands avoid some bending too. The main problem may be more about access for log deliveries. My friend's come in dumpy bags which the supplier brings into the garage, and being kiln-dried, they're clean. Mind you, she pays handsomely for the convenience. With a 7-year-old house, there's not much need for the extra heat, and there wasn't a chimney of course, but such difficulties can be overcome. Don't forget that when you're looking at bungalows!

The Medlars are a lot bigger than I expected (unless you have a very wee hand, Dusty
) I think I was expecting them to be small rosehip size. I've got an ornamental quince (I think) and it's full of fruit at the moment.
I should have thought to say about not necessarily looking for bungalows with chimneys. My sister has a bungalow and had a multi fuel stove installed without the need for a chimney - the pipe (??) comes out of the roof.
wort, I used to make toast on my mum and dad's gas fire
I wonder what your wee bird was, Farway, maybe a Dunnock, although they might be too big??
OT - bloomin' cold, wet and windy. I've just had some porridge with foraged brambles and stewed Bramley apple to warm me up...'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
Farway's bird is known round here as an LBJ (Little Brown Job).
I haven't planted a quince here as I thought it would be too dry, but I do like them - and they are worth it for the scent alone, although also make a nice addition to apple pies/crumbles and if you can be bothered to make quince jelly it's delicious.7
